O'Reilly Equestrian LLC Bevin O'Reilly Dugan is dedicated to the horse and proper horsemanship, taking a systematic approach

Bevin offers lessons and training at Winchester Stables in Newfane, Vermont. Winchester offers an exceptional environment either to ship into for a lesson or as a home for your horse. Bevin accepts horses in training for long or short terms, either to address a specific issue or to keep your horses in a developmental training program. She is also available for coaching at events and dressage shows

or for clinics. In the winter months, Bevin trains in Aiken, South Carolina and is available for training, teaching or coaching there. Whether your desire is to compete successfully in recognized events or USDF shows or simply to grow in partnership with your horse, Bevin can design a program to help you reach your goals. Bevin prides herself in being able to train both horses and riders in a thoughtful manner that builds confidence while increasing their skills. Dedicated to the horse and proper horsemanship, Bevin takes a systematic approach that focuses on building on a strong foundation. Bevin’s teaching approach is centered on exacting principles – learning or reaffirming the basics before advancing to the next level, which has proven to be effective for all disciplines from novice riders to active competitors. And, as an accomplished trainer, Bevin will start your young horse, address specific training issues and school your competitor for that winning edge. If you want to compete or improve your skills, regardless of whether you bring your own horse or ride one of her talented lesson horses, Bevin will tailor a strategy to get you where you want to be.

Had a great go at this weekend until I made a mistake at the coffin. Thankful that Rox and I are ok and for the opportunity to learn to be better next time. The support system was in full effect. .eventing

Schooling day/In-house clinic

Looking for feedback...what would the community find most useful? Would you come?

We'd love to host either some schooling days or in-house clinics at my farm. Would that be of interest this summer? Mid-week? Perhaps warm up, jump a course, have a quick critique and work on a couple of things, then jump again? Or have a proper clinic with Bevin?

Parking space is limited so need to be creative with the flow of traffic in and out but we'd love to host and share our fabulous arena!

We are located in Vernon, VT - 45 minutes from Northampton, MA and Keene, NH.

Please comment or PM us with some feedback.

Renvers, also known as haunches-out, is a lateral exercise that improves your horse's flexibility, strength, suppleness, and straightness. However, unlike leg-yield, shoulder-in, travers, and half-pass, renvers is a movement you won't find in many dressage tests, which can lead to it being overlooked in training.

It's the mirror image of travers, and it's a difficult movement to position correctly and, therefore, tests and improves your coordination and ability to influence your horse's shoulders and hindquarters.

Renvers can be ridden in collected walk, collected trot, and counter-canter.

To position your horse for renvers, you can either:
👉 Ride shoulder-in on four tracks and then reverse your horse's bend.
Or
👉Ride leg-yield with your horse's hindquarters to the walk and then ask your horse to bend in the direction of travel.

Researchers found that the Thoroughbred’s proficiency in cross country makes up for faults in the dressage and show jumping phases. The reason for this proficiency, the researchers believe, is that the Thoroughbred has been purpose-bred for speed and stamina for several centuries.
