I would like to introduce Liberty Equestrian Center's newest addition, Alyssa Turnquist. Please see her bio below and help me welcome her:
Hi everyone! I am so excited to begin teaching lessons at Liberty! The following is a little bit about me, but feel free to reach out if you have any burning questions.
I started showing horses through Dane County 4-H at age 10, and also did many local open shows. I had the privilege of showing many different horses over the years, Arabians and stock horses included. I earned many county-level Grands and Reserves, as well as state-level Top Tens. I showed in the showmanship, horsemanship/equitation, and pleasure events, as well as trail and dressage. I competed in Hippology and Horse Quiz Bowl through 4-H as well, earning a trip to nationals as part of the WI State Grand Champion Team. I also participated in FFA Horse Judging and competed at US Nationals, taking home the Reserve Champion belt buckle.
Outside of 4-H and FFA, I showed many horses on the Arabian circuit and earned several Regional Championships and Reserves. I also have a handful of National Top Tens in both in-hand and under saddle events. I was the Stallion Avenue Coordinator for Midwest Horse Fair for 3 years, overseeing Stallion Revues and Liberty. Before graduating from UW-Madison with a BS in Kinesiology, I spent a year and a half at UW-River Falls as an Equine major. It is here that I fell in love with reining and cutting horses. Lastly, I competed on the UW-Madison Equestrian Team and earned High Point Rider at my very first show! I showed in both the equitation on the flat and over fences classes. This team is what brought me to Liberty in the first place – and I could not be happier about where I am today.
Currently, I work full-time as a Research Coordinator for the UW Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. I am available for lessons most weekends (Friday evenings and all day Saturdays and Sundays). I love prepping horses and riders for shows, and am also happy to help riders with specific concerns regarding their horses! I aim to create independent riders who like to have FUN with their horses and friends!! I can’t wait to see you all around the barn.
Welcome Alyssa!
