🌧️ It’s definitely been a love/hate relationship with all this rain lately!

On one hand… the mud, wet fields, delayed harvest, and trying to get anything done outside has us wondering if the sun still exists. 😂

But on the other hand… we know how much this moisture means for the pastures, soil health, cover crops, and everything we’ve got growing. 🌱🐄

As farmers, you learn pretty quickly that you don’t get to control the weather — you just learn to work with what you’re given.

So for now, we’ll keep enjoying the green grass, happy cows, and full ponds… while hoping for a few dry days to let things catch up! ☀️

🐄📍 The Collars Are Finally On!

After a couple of educating weeks for both us and the cows, the collars are finally on and officially in use! 🙌

Getting everyone used to them has been a learning curve, but we’re figuring it out—and thankfully, the cows are figuring it out too. 😂

These collars are going to give us another great tool to better manage our herd and our pastures. We’ll be able to monitor where the cows are, see how they’re using the pasture, and make better decisions about when and where to move them.

And one of the coolest parts? The green dots in the photo are each one of our cows! 🟢🐄 We can see where everyone is in the pasture without having to drive around searching for them.

This technology should help us:
🌱 Improve rotational grazing decisions
🐄 Keep better tabs on individual cows
🌾 Better utilize our pasture
⏱️ Save time checking cattle
📊 Collect information that will help us manage the herd even better

We’re excited to finally have everything up and running and to see what we can learn from it. It’s been a couple of educating weeks, but the collars are ON, in use, and we’re learning! 💪

Another step toward using technology to make our cattle operation more efficient while continuing to take care of the land and the cattle the right way.

👀 Sneak Peek! 🐄☀️

They've officially arrived!

Our new electronic cattle collars are hanging out in the sunshine, charging up and getting ready for their first day in the pasture. Before long, they'll be on our cows as we begin testing this exciting new technology.

These collars allow us to create virtual fence lines, making rotational grazing easier and more efficient without constantly moving physical fence. We're hopeful they'll help us:
🌱 Improve pasture management
🐄 Keep our cattle grazing where we want them
⏱️ Save time while maintaining good stewardship of the land

Technology will never replace good stockmanship, but it can be a valuable tool to help us care for our cattle and our pastures even better.

We're excited to see how they perform and can't wait to share the journey with you. Stay tuned for updates once the collars are on the cows!

Breeding season is officially underway! 🐂

While breeding season only comes around once a year, the work that goes into it happens every day. At Demuth Family Cattle Co., we believe healthy cattle start with proactive herd management—not reactive treatment.

Our herd receives routine care, a carefully balanced free-choice mineral program, regular body condition evaluations, and plenty of fresh pasture through rotational grazing. We also work with our veterinarian to make sure our herd is ready for a successful breeding season and a healthy calf crop next spring.

Every healthy pregnancy starts with a healthy cow, and every great steak begins with cattle that have been well cared for from day one. That's the difference thoughtful herd management makes.

Try this easy Smoked Beef Roast 👇
🥩 Smoked Beef Roast Recipe
• 1 beef roast (chuck roast is a favorite)
• Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder & smoked paprika
• Smoke at 225°F for 3–4 hours until internal temp reaches 160°F
• Transfer to a foil pan and add:
🧈 2 tbsp butter
🧅 1 sliced onion
🥣 1 cup beef broth
• Cover and continue cooking until roast reaches 200–205°F and is fork tender
Slice it, shred it, pile it on buns—or eat it straight off the cutting board 🇺🇸🥩
