This broke my heart to wake up to this morning. Last night I was staying just several blocks from this exact neighborhood.

Rabbi Michael Moshe Mizrahi. A beloved member of Montreal’s Jewish community. A man who prayed with his people at the Chabad synagogue in Côte-des-Neiges.

Gone.

A gunman opened fire this morning in the heart of one of Canada’s most vibrant Jewish communities. Jewish schools locked down. Families ran from parks in panic. Businesses shuttered. 100 people took shelter inside the Chabad House.

And Rabbi Mizrahi never made it home.

This is the world we are living in right now. Antisemitism in North America is at an all-time high. The Canadian Prime Minister said it himself just three weeks ago. Words become actions. Hatred becomes bullets.

GOD sees every one of His people.

May his memory be a blessing. Zichrono livracha.

Pray for the Mizrahi family. Pray for Montreal. Pray for the Jewish people.

🇮🇱 Israel is not just a location on a map.

It’s where Yeshua walked. Where He taught. Where He healed the blind, calmed the storm, and raised the dead. The Galilee especially! This is where He called fishermen to follow Him and turned the world upside down.

And it’s the very place He shall return.

When I set out to record LIVE AT MAGDALA SYNAGOGUE (Songs for the Rabbi) I wasn’t just making an album. I was standing on holy ground, singing to the One who once stood there Himself. We held a synagogue service where the Holy One once stood 2,000 years ago!

So thankful for this table and this little girl who oh so joyfully wants to set it beautifully every single Friday night making the bringing in of Shabbat so special. She works hard all day Friday/preparation day by getting her school done and helping to clean the house and prep the animals for Shabbat. She may be the youngest but she surely is an important part of life together. And her smile and joy is exactly what the rest of us need at the end of a long week. Bring on Shabbat!!
