I have no idea what this would be called except good?

Its mostly chicken, onion, mixed vegetables, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce and spaghetti noodles.

Week 2:

Babies are getting bigger are starting to get bigger and growing feathers.

We've started to open up the brooders to make it slightly cooler, they are still under heat lamps all day.

Finally got around to fixing the spreader.

Instead of buying a very expensive replacement, I added a couple of pieces of sacrificial brass to fill the gap and had Leeland grease it real good.

I would not recommend this fix but we don't use the spreader that much and it's very low speeds.

Soybeans are getting close to being ready

Its so weird how the taste of something can bring back so many memories.

Biting down on a soybean to check how dry they are brings back 30 years of memories of being a kid driving around in the blue dodge - walking the fields in Vicksburg with Dad.

🐣 So… what is a chicken brooder?

A chicken brooder is basically the nursery for baby chicks — a warm, safe little enclosure that keeps them contained, cozy, and dry during their first few weeks of life.

Baby chicks can’t regulate their body temperature yet, so they need things extra warm.

Think: tropical‑vacation warm.

So we set them up with a heat lamp to keep their space around 95°F the first week, then slowly lower the temperature as they grow.

Inside the brooder you’ll usually find:
- Bedding to keep things clean and dry
- Feed & water within easy reach
- A heat lamp to keep them comfortable
- Draft protection so they don’t get chilled

It’s one of the most important parts of raising healthy chicks — and honestly, one of the cutest. Watching them pile under the heat lamp like tiny fuzzy balls never gets old.
