Mid-Spring days have us swooning over the landscape! So much abundant life has come back to bless us all. We have been foraging and preserving field garlic, ramps, stinging nettle, purple deadnettle, dandelion, garlic mustard, cleavers, violets, and morel mushrooms. πΏ
Our favorite ways to preserve our harvests are by turning all our greens into pesto that we freeze and get to enjoy the mineral rich goodness all Winter long. We also do a lot of dehydrating of plants and mushrooms for future use and make lots of lovely herbal & mushroom salts that we use in dishes, as well as getting to share them through our catering business and selling them at markets! β€οΈ
And we have been making so much medicine to use and share! Last week we made:
Peppermint extract, lavender extract, vanilla extract, chamomile tincture, clove tincture, tulsi tincture, nettle root tincture, Love tincture (Kava Kava & Rose), Calm tincture (chamomile, passion flower, lavender, valerian root, kava kava, & ashwaghanda), & we double extracted our mushroom blends for our Fun-guy tincture (Lion's Mane, Reishi, Chaga, Turkey Tail. & Cordyceps) π
The homestead life is so much about being able to be truly present in the moments with the natural world, with our plants, our animals, and ourselves, while also continually prepping to be nourished and well through the Winter. It's a beautiful balance and we are so grateful to have the opportunity to be stewards of the land & to be held so deeply by the Earth Mother & all she provides. π»
Stay tuned as we will have many of the medicines & culinary delights available for purchase in the coming months! π’
