Lily Patch Farm will be outside the High Country Food Hub on 9/25 and 10/2 with locally grown, native pawpaws! These unique fruits have a rich history: Thomas Jefferson grew them, John James Audubon drew them, and they were rumored to be George Washington’s favorite dessert. Pawpaws are native to all 100 counties in North Carolina, most of the eastern United States, and parts of Canada. Historically beloved in Appalachia, these fruits offer a tropical taste right from our local soil. Come chat with Susan about this storied fruit and sample the delicious, tropical-tasting native pawpaw, grown right here in Watauga County!

Got Pawpaw trees?

This is a Zebra Swallowtail butterfly, and the only food source for it's larva are Pawpaw leaves. (think Monarch and Milkweed)
