Five years ago, home for the summer, while volunteering as an EMT with Vinalhaven Emergency Services, my daughter asked me to become an EMT . To all of my objections she replied, “Mom, they just need more volunteers.”
Since summer of 2022, volunteering as an EMT with Vinalhaven Emergency Services has been a constant in a life full of change.
I took this pic the other morning as I returned home from an early morning EMS call. A moment of rare beauty.
If you’ve thought of volunteering and helping your local emergency services, I can’t guarantee it will all be sunshine and rainbows and moments of rare beauty ( there will be some), but I can guarantee what my daughter said still holds true. They just need more volunteers.
