The 10th Annual Meat Ball was a ‘ball’ — delicious meatballs (made with & ) fueled conversations amongst friends & neighbors sharing the long tables at the Ag Hall. This evening really helps us, island farmers, feel appreciated for the good work we do to care for our animals who in turn nourish our community.

February is always a special time because it means this season’s pigs are on the ground! Three sows (mamas) farrowed (gave birth to) 24 total pigs, the first of which were born on Valentine’s Day! The pigs will spend 2+ months nursing from their mama before being weaned. I love their cute spots and how they sleep touching side-by-side in a pig pile.

Shoutout to new partnership with fostered this past summer 2025! I would usually pick up food scraps daily from their dining hall at camp, but one group of campers came to visit the farm and brought the food scraps in the orange bucket themselves! Later in August, a group from Camp was coincidentally visiting the pigs at the Ag Fair right as I was feeding the 6 pigs in their fair stalls and could recognize their own leftover foods from Camp being fed to the pigs. These joyous full circle moments made the summer extra sweet.

Happy 12th Night of Christmas 🎄! My family celebrates Epiphany and Christmas Eve with pork pie 🥧 every year. My dad’s family has been enjoying this tradition for decades — and for the past three years, it has had been made with my own island-raised pork & beef! I love raising these specific livestock but knowing that my animal care directly helps my family celebrate our generations-long tradition makes it even more meaningful.
