Today marks 23 years since Officer Rodney Pocceschi made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. On June 23, 2003, Officer Pocceschi was fatally shot while conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle connected to a recent robbery. A dedicated law enforcement officer and member of the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Special Operations Unit, he served his community with courage and commitment. Officer Pocceschi is remembered for his service and today we honor his sacrifice and keep his family, friends, and fellow officers in our thoughts. Today, Officer Rodney Pocceschi will be remembered at Thin Brew Line with a place set in his honor. A single candle, a beer, and an empty chair will serve as a solemn tribute to a hero whose sacrifice will never be forgotten. Though his seat remains empty, his memory continues to hold a place in the hearts of those who knew him and the community he served.
