From the Field: We tried to have these flowers available earlier for subscribers and the market, but they were one week late. We almost gave up on the snapdragons completely and were were going to mow them down and plant something else, but thankfully we never got around to it.

The thing is, June 20th to July 4th is notorious for having a gap between focal flower blooms. The only focal flower that blooms this time of year are lilies and certain varieties of roses.

Fortunately, we made a small investment in an asiatic lily experiment a couple years ago and we are waiting to see how they turn out this year. Our hope is we have enough lilies for a 4th bonus "spring" bouquet to pair these with for our subscribers.

We bought some hay from a friend and neighbor a couple weeks ago and he said something that really hit home. " If it doesn't work out the way you planned, then you know its farming".

Farm Update: Last night we plopped down in our spots in the living room to wind down with an episode of Clarkson's Farm and agreed there has been alot to appreciate lately. This rainy day included. We needed a good reason to redirect our attention from field work to other things that have been put off for too long.

Two weeks ago we went deep into Amish country to our favorite outdoor furniture maker for new deck furniture and somehow got talked into committing to buy 16 qts of fresh strawberries. We picked them up Saturday AM and FINALLY getting around to vacuum sealing them and into the freezer. They make store bought strawberries taste like cardboard in comparison.

Also appreciating these 70⁰ days because we are STILL working like crazy to plant the fields out with summer flowers and get them mulched before w**d season is upon us. Today has also been an excellent opportunity to take a break from all that to stay inside and start seeds for late summer planting like ornamental kale and snapdragons.

Thanks again for everyone who came to Market on Market. We genuinely enjoy doing that market so much. Always such good vibes with great company. Even days after, we are still coming down from it all. Next month we'll be bringing bunches of white and gold sunflowers and whatever else Melissa manages to pull out of her sleeve.

Summer solstice is a few days away and the flower season is off to great start. Pictures from the field coming soon. Can't wait to share pics of some of the most beautiful snapdragons we've ever grown. Cheers! 🍻

We wanted to pop on and say a huge THANK YOU for showing up at Market-on-Market~June Edition hosted by Beer By Bike Brigade today! We showed up with 200 sourdough chocolate chip cookies, 80 baguettes, 100 monster cookies, 50 bouquets, 75 morning glory muffins and we left nearly empty handed with full and grateful hearts! The ❤️ you give our farm is what allows us to keep going season after season! We are enjoying this coconut butter candle from Velvet Couch Candle Co. this evening- smells like vacation... something we look forward to in the off season

Planting the final 6 50' beds today! The mantra in May is...just....keep ...planting. I really wanted to do some video content this planting season, but I dropped the ball. I did find this 'lil fella trying to blend in hoping I wouldn't notice him. I told him he could stay as long as he promised to eat all the Japanese beetle grubs and kept damage to a minimum.
