Harmony Valley Farm

Harmony Valley Farm We are a Certified Organic vegetable, farm feeding families through our CSA program, wholesale and farmer's market sales.

Harmony Valley Farm reaps the benefits of over 40 years farming experience from Richard de Wilde, who has been growing vegetables since 1973. Richard goes above and beyond organics, placing great value on soil fertility and on an integrated, healthy, natural growing environment. Richard has developed a complex system of cover cropping and applications of compost and minerals to promote healthy min

eral balanced soils resulting in vegetables with exceptional flavor and nutrition. Planting and maintaining year round habitat allow songbirds, bats, bees and beneficial insects to take up residence and become our allies in pest control. Experience is our guarantee, from season to season and year to year.

Another full CSA box this week, the fourth box of the season. We decided to feature pea vine this week. One of the quick and easy ways to utilize the pea vine, is to add some to your smoothies! Don't drink smoothies, don't worry, we also featured two recipes and links to a few more in your email and on our website.

If you have been a CSA member with Harmony Valley Farm in the past, you have likely seen the willow branches we send to the CSA sites on the first and/or second delivery of the season. Each year we trim the willow to promote new growth and use the trimmings for their beauty! Some of our winter crew decided to see if they could make a heart shape out of the branches. We think they did an amazing job weaving them together! What do you do with your willow branches?

With our greenhouse getting into planting mode, Mellissa is taking on this task as she has with many others at Harmony Valley Farm. While she is 'only' starting her second season with us, she has really stepped up and taken on different farm responsibilities. Mellissa has not only taken charge of the seed inventory and sterilizing, she is also working alongside Richard and Rafael to updated our planting records and planning process. And if that wasn't enough, she is also the one to lead us into an updated HAACP (food safety) plan, with all the logs and binders that go with that recordkeeping. That is only a few of the things that Mellissa helps out with, but there are too many to name individually. Today, we send out our appreciation for Mellissa and the smile, knowledge and upbeat attitude she has bought to the farm! Thank you Mellissa!

Sedona has been with HVF for a year and a half and she has taken on the challenge with a smile. We think she is rockin her responsibilities each day! Sedona and Richard handle all of our Wholesale/Retail sales and have met with all except one location to set this years plan with them. She has streamlined the ordering and reporting process this past year and communicates efficiently with Richard, Rafael, and Lupe the total pounds/boxes needed to fulfill all of her wholesale orders. Not only does she handle sales, she and Jimena, they take on the major task of managing our farm supplies inventory, and that is no small task either. Doing all of this with that smile is one reason we appreciate all that Sedona does at HVF. Thank you Sedona!
