Johnstone Ranch: Farm Fresh Eggs Our flock consists mainly of the heritage breed known as Buckeyes. They lay a light tinted brown egg, from medium to large size. Thank you very much!

We also have Cream Legbars which lay a medium size blue egg, Sulmtalers which lay medium to large white eggs and a few other American Breeds. They are free ranging on one acre of land. Our hens are fed a breeder pellet, free choice of scratch, as well as oyster shell for calcium, and grit for good digestion. e free of hormones and antibiotics. Eggs are collected twice daily and washed immediately, then refrigerated. We are licensed by the state of California to sell free ranged eggs, license #738. We currently sell our medium to large brown eggs for $3 a dozen and for February and March we are offering small to medium blue and white egg mixes for $1.50 a dozen. Our Story

As of the middle of August, 2018, we purchased from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, a set of new young pullets consisting of heritage breeds like the Barred Plymouth Rock, the Rhode Island Red, and an assortment of pullets that are Rhode Island Reds crossed with Leghorns. We now have more eggs available for sale. Call us and order your eggs, I’ll return your call when your eggs are ready. ( Please leave a voice or text message if your call is not answered and it will be answered ASAP.) The hens and pullets are free ranging on one acre of land. Our hens are fed a 20% protein breeder pellet, scratch as a treat, as well as oyster shell for calcium, and grit for good digestion. They also normally have free choice of grasses and weeds growing on irrigated pasture. The eggs are free of hormones and antibiotics. Eggs are collected frequently during the day and washed immediately, then refrigerated. We are licensed by the state of California to sell free ranged eggs, license #738. ( Our eggs are not CAGE FREE, they are PASTURE RAISED, meaning the hens and pullets can freely roam the pasture eating grasses, weeds, pellets, and grains as needed. Cage free simply means that the chickens are not confined to a small cage but still confined to a pen. There is a huge difference in cage free versus pasture raised eggs.)
