OUR STORY
It all started with a dream and a conversation with my beautiful mother and father named Herminia (Minnie) Adame and Miguel (Mike) Daniel Adame Jr. Minnie was a native of Oceanside, CA and Mike was born in El Paso, TX. The Marine Corp brought Mike to Oceanside, CA where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA and where he met my beautiful mother. Mike and Minnie were married for more than

50 years. Minnie always wanted to open a café right across the street from Oceanside High School. During our many long drives down to San Diego stuck in traffic we would always talk about opening the café, what we would sell, and what time we would open and close. Minnie would always end up crying because she would think about her lovely daughter and my beautiful sister Alice Isabel Adame who died on June 19, 1991, at the young age of 23. Minnie would often say, “Alice would have been our baker”. Minnie would often reminisce about her mother (my beautiful nana) Isabel Gonzalez Hernandez making homemade flour tortillas. My nana was a true homemaker. She would sew, cook, and clean. I spent a lot of time with my nana, and I watched her prepare delicious homemade meals for my hard-working grandfather (my pampa) Jesus Hernandez. Mike would chime in and tell us how hard running a restaurant was. Mike had first-hand experience at a very young age by selling burritos and plates of food his mother (my grandmother) Maria Zapata Adame would make. Mike would then say that he would teach his grandson’s Elias and Joshua how to work and run the café. Mike and Minnie taught me to begin and end each day talking to God, that family always comes first, to work hard for the things I want, and to have integrity. Sadly, as life would have it, Minnie passed away March 29, 2019, and Mike passed away April 13, 2019. I made many promises to my beautiful parents, and I have kept all my promises. Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed, and held so dear. OUR VISION
