Steve Caballero decided to host a Memorial weekend BBQ and skate party at his Panda miniramp, here in Southern California. Keefer Wilson and T-Mag was at Level Up, shooting some video. It just so happened it was also T-Mag’s birthday, he’s now 63.

So Cabs party spontaneously became a pseudo Mag B-Day party, at least for the hour him and Keefer were there. Mike McGill and Salman Agah were there and a bunch of Cabs really good friends, mostly from mountain biking and moto racing. A closer look will also reveal Thrasher’s Michael Burnett in the crew.

A great mini ramp sesh was had by all and Keefer took Cabs miniramp and kinda turned it into a vert ramp, blasting stuff that usually is only possibly on bigger vert ramps! He also pulled out untold new and old school moves on that mini to the point that they might have to go back and film a part on it!

Keefer is off to the World Skate contest in Rome, and he’ll join forces with Mizuho Hasegawa, where they are both top contenders for the podium spots!

Huge thanks to Cab for the invitation and to Casey from Defy Focus Photography for shooting the classic group photo!

We would like to issue a special thanks to H-Street artist Bob Hickman for his tremendous contribution to not only to H-Street through so much incredible artwork and board graphics but also to the country with his service in the US Army many years ago.

Both are perhaps a bit of a thankless endeavor so this acknowledgment is meant to recognize his invaluable efforts.

Most of our close friends know that T-Mag is a fan of Elephants and Bob painted this canvas last year and now adorns Mag’s billiard room. Many that stop by ask why this isn’t a board graphic already and yeah, good question, may happen at some point.

In addition, Bob also did Puppet Skates for many years and has drawn graphics for some of his other friends and board companies.

And since this is Memorial Day, we also have a cool sale taking place this weekend, as we move our warehouse and letting some stuff go at unbelievable prices. Cruise over to the all new online store to score crazy deals, no code needed.

And don’t worry, Bob is in good health, living in Florida with his wife and dogs.

Jackalope’s first contest in California went off with a bang! H-Street showed up in force with our whole grom crew and the heavy hitters JD Sanchez and Ollie Graves.

Mizuho was supposed to be there too but ended up begin too busy with skateboarding Japan. The plan is that she’s at the Virginia Beach stop, which is up next.

By now, perhaps you’ve heard that JD Sanchez smashed the contest and broke the internet by showing up with a fresh broken wrist and five stitches in his chin, kinda of a swollen face and unsure whether he’d skate at all. Then proceeded to make the finals with an already awesome run and then his first run in the final was already a contest winning run. By the time he took the last run, he was already the winner, so it was a “victory run”, which he did not need to take at all, could have just put up his hand to say “THANKS”!!

But no, that’s not how that went down, as he thought that winning the contest was not good enough, he had to throw down a monster run that got all the judges to give him a 99!! That’s never happened at Jackalope and if it’s ever happened at any contest, it’s super rare! JD Sanchez, he’crazy’guy!!

Newcomer Minato Nakashima from Japan made a great showing at 11th and same with Ollie Graves at 10th. The only not-so-great occurrence was that young ripper Banyan Meyer slipped on something and got injured enough to be out of the contest. His younger brother Valen got himself onto the podium in third in the grom contest. Congrats to them all & see ya in Virginia Beach!

JD Sanchez came to the Jackalope Ventura contest with a freshly broken wrist and stitches in his chin after a particularly nasty slam on his local Nor Cal vert ramp.

First practice was a bit sketch but this wasn’t exactly JD’s first rodeo with a cast on his arm. To our recall, he won another Jackalope and Vert Attack in Sweden the same way.

In a stunning and totally mind blowing manner, JD won the first California Jackalope contest in a dramatic fashion, with a record breaking 99, on his last run!

We had our whole grom team there and T-Mag was on hand and shot plenty of video, so stand by for a fun wrap up vid from his POV in a few days. Along with more photos too!

Huge thanks to the whole Jackalope crew that made the event possible and all did an amazing job running the contest.

Before leaving for Ventura, Minato got to skate the legendary B Team ramp here in Vista, California, with a little warm-up sesh at the Vista Skatepark. Mancha’s ramp is the local fav for many SD North County skaters and it’s been going for many years, thanks to Mancha’s dedication to keep the ramp in good shape and keep the sessions manageable for the long term.

Minato had no trouble adjusting to the ramp right off the plane, got a few pointers from T-Mag and the other locals on how to work the ramp and here’s some clips from both sessions. Today we’re going to Ventura and the Jackalope Block Party contest!

We finally got to meet 14yo Japanese ripper Minato Nakashima, when he and his mom landed in California for the first time ever.

They’re staying here in Vista and will be going to the Ventura Jackalope contest this weekend. In a somewhat serendipitous turn of events, Mizuho and her mom had introduced us to Minuto and the first time Mizuho came here a couple of years ago, it was also for a contest in Ventura, the X Games, where Mizuho stunned the world by getting second place.

Minato went and skated Macha’s ramp with T-Mag and his talents where on full display right off the plane! He’s currently riding Mizuho “Hidden Cat” graphic. T-Mag shot a few clips, so stand by for a quick edit in the next day or so.

Keefer Wilson was in California a couple of weeks ago to test out the all new Cosmic Carbon Epoxy Everslick decks made by Legend Skates, with a little design input from our own T-Mag.

Keefer spent a few days at the new Level Up Training Facility here in Vista, California, putting the high tech performance deck to a rather brutal test.

It’s completely laminated with Epoxy and layers of structural performance Carbon Fiber, finished with a slick bottom surface for maximum and consistent sliding performance.

Keefer was so stoked on the innovative design that we’re scrambling to make him a decent batch of decks. Soon enough, we’ll have them available for sale too, so stand by for this exciting development.

We’d like to once again congratulate young Japanese ripper Mizuho Hasegawa for winning the Japanese National Park competition at what looked like a new park in Japan. We’re not totally sure of the details but as usual, she laid down a hard hitting line with all her signature moves; huge 540’s, speed, style and a blunt slide on the box rail!

Her team mate Shuka Kawai mostly skates vert but put in a very impressive run and ended up in 7th, so huge congrats on that effort as well.

Mizuho’s schedule is now so jammed up, she might not be back in California until June and of course, we wish her the best of travels and times while touring the world, along with good luck and prosperity.

Words are not sufficient to describe just how great she is, as she’s well on her way to one of the most impressive and successful careers in skateboarding that we’ve ever seen. Simply put, She’s The Best!

We would like to congratulate and acknowledge the young ripper from Japan, Mizuho Hasegawa for being ranked number one in the world, in Girls Park Skating.

We think she was ranked before the first world skate contest in Sao Paulo earlier this month and with her second place, she’s still ranked number one.

Huge congrats on this stunning achievement, considering the competition is fierce and just a few years ago, no one had ever heard of Mizuho.

Since first showing up in California in 2023, she has the most incredible competition trophy collection, which is kept at her local park in Japan, as we understand it.

We don’t know who shot this super classic Frontside Air in Sao Paulo but we’d really like to get the original as she skates with style reminiscent of some of the 80’s legends, at least in this photo, super cool!

She’s also rippin on her own design, The Hidden Cat, that she made with a little help from T-Mag and Mark Kowalchuk after winning her first contest a couple of years ago at the Tampa Pro vert contest.

She’s back in California in a few weeks and we’ll see about getting some signed decks for a giveaway. In the meantime, we will continue to be in awe of her poise, power and talent!
