The dam of 2511 is a full sister to the SVR Prince Copeland bulls out of 9753. The Alap son is still growling about about the switch.

We post a lot about the straight Wye bulls we use at Cotton Angus, but the real chemistry in this herd comes from the way certain Wye bulls have been combined and recombined through different home bred bulls from the same cow base. Before assuming Leo of Volga gets his character from Churchill of Wye, look at the amount of Leonid in his dam and the Alap top cross in his maternal grandsire, Moofassa.
Our other senior herd sire, OMr Beauregard, resembles Leo in his motion and attitude; qualitative character traits that emerge from a deeper level of relatedness.
Leo's dam is largely a Leonid-Alap-Cotton blend, with more Leonid in her pedigree.
Beauregard is an Alap-Leonid-Oliver blend with more Alap.
Every time Leonid is used, Leah (Columbus x Prince of Malpas) comes with him. Using Churchill, in the Cotton herd, is a way to remix Fabron and Prince of Malpas through Lodge.
These two Leonid-Alap-Cotton- Alap-Leonid-Oliver bulls are both walking in pastures full of Columbus and Prince of Malpas granddaughters. The point is, don't leap to assume inheritance is a quantitative process. There is symmetry involved, but instead of fixing genetic quantities, linebreeding strives to fix expressed qualities, in dynamic ratios.

out of a Moofassa of Volga daughter. We were talking yesterday and I asked John about notable Alap sons and immediately he said, Moofassa. Moofassa was the full brother of his 507 cow. "Man did he make beautiful long lived daughters". Leo calves are long and strong. The red tag calf double checking cows behind Leo is a Leo son.
