Patroon Land Farm

Patroon Land Farm The Farm supplies the Regional Food Bank of NENY and its participating agencies with diverse, fresh produce. https://linktr.ee/PatroonLandFarm

The Regional Food Bank, in partnership with the Patroon Land Foundation, manages the Patroon Land Farm where it grows large quantities of high quality vegetables every year, over 1.1 million pounds, to date. Although the majority of the Farm’s production is allocated to the Food Bank, since 2008 we have sold 400,000 pounds of produce through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and an o

n-site farm stand. Our CSA program has family shared and individual shares. A family share is designed to feed a family of 3-4 and an individual share to feed a family of 1-2. Members receive a weekly supply of fresh produce during the harvest season, which usually runs from mid July through late October. For additional information or to sign up for a share, contact Bob Baker at [email protected].

Meet Emily!

Hi! I’ve worked on the farm for the past 2 summers, and have had the pleasure of running our social media accounts 😊

I have always been passionate about food, gardening and helping my community, which led me to join the farm team last year as a graduate intern. My studies have focused on the relationship between community health and food access.

My favorite part of working on the farm is harvesting! I especially enjoy the process of harvesting onions and laying them out to cure in the greenhouse.

My favorite vegetable to eat that we grow on the farm are leeks, made into a delicious potato leek soup. 😋

I recently transitioned to a permanent role at the Food Bank in Latham as an Agency Orders Coordinator, where I will continue to support and serve our community! It has been an incredible experience working on the farm and saving butterflies from the greenhouse 😄 I am so appreciative of my wonderful coworkers and volunteers for their passion and commitment.

I have learned so much and am excited to continue serving my community with the RegionalFood Bank!

Meet Meghan!

Meghan has just finished her first summer as our Volunteer Engagement Specialist, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her! She joined the farm team because of her interest in helping her community in a hands-on way.

Meghan has really enjoyed working with our volunteers and learning about and from them. She loves that there is always something new to learn when you’re on the farm!

Meghan’s favorite vegetables to grow are squash because the plants grow so big and they have such huge flowers! Her favorite vegetable to eat is green beans, steamed and served with butter, salt and pepper. Classic! 😋

Meghan’s coolest experience on the farm this summer has hands down been watching the bald eagle and her eaglets as they hunt and grow!

Thank you Meghan for a great first season!

LEEKS 💚

We’re so excited to harvest our leeks next week (don’t they look great?) and we’re giving a little preview at the farm stand!

Stop by to pick up some fresh leeks, plus all of the other delicious veggies we have 😋

As always, all proceeds from our farm stand go towards our mission of helping our neighbors in need!

Meet Julia!

Julia is the Vegetable Farm Lead and this is her second year at PLF. Julia joined the farm team because of her interest in sustainable agriculture after working in outdoor recreation and completing a degree in environmental science.

Her favorite thing about working on the farm is being able to see the entire growing process, from seed to harvest, every season. She has loved learning to use the farm equipment and drive all the tractors!

Julia’s favorite vegetable to grow is zucchini because it is a great summer staple and the plants produce lots of food to send to the food bank.

Julia’s favorite vegetable to eat is red dynasty cabbage (which we grow on the farm!), roasted with a medley of vegetables and served with soy sauce and chilies 😋

Thank you for all of your hard work this season, Julia!
