Phone microphone doesn't pick up the sound very well, but you can hear so many sounds outside here. Sometimes we like to sit on the porch and just listen to them..

Rotating crops allows us to get more crops on our small acreage. After digging well over 200 pounds of potatoes earlier this summer, we planted pumpkin and buckwheat. The buckwheat serves as a cover crop for areas not covered by the pumpkin and provides an additional nectar source for the bees.

Buckwheat is one of those honeys that not everyone enjoys. Have you tried it? Are you a lover or a hater?

We've been busy canning up an old favorite this week!

Pepper Jelly is sweet and spicy and the mix of red and green peppers looks so festive on the holiday table! It's our favorite thing to make and gift!

I love trying new canning recipes each year, but I don't want a recipe that involves a trip to the store to spend money on additional ingredients.

This Green Tomato Relish from the USDA Home Preservation website was a perfect fit for the way I like to can- use what I have, avoid extra expense and make something truly delicious!
