Walter Moss Seed Co.

Walter Moss Seed Co. Walter Moss Seed Co., The worlds leader in photo period sensitive forages. Mega Green For grazing or silage, plant 8 to 15lbs. per acre with grain drill.

Mega Green is planted at a much lower seeding rate than traditional sudans and forages. Usually one third to one half the seeding rate of conventional sorghum sudans. per acre in rows and for hay, plant 25 to 35 lbs. Mega Green will set a new leaf every 3.5 days under good growing conditions. Plants can put on up to 21 - 4 ft. leaves compared to the 7, 2inch leaves put on by other sorghum sudan gr

ass. Our stalks are very palatable, and the cattle will graze it to the ground, un like traditional sudan which the cattle strip the leaves and leave the stalks. They do the same thing when it is baled, they will eat the leaves and leave the stalks in your hay ring. When feeding Walter Moss Mega Green your cattle will eat most everything with very little waste. Our products will stay vegetative for up to 180 days without setting a seed head. When the day length becomes shorter than 12 hours and 20 minutes, the first week of so of October only then can this plant start to make a seed head. So, during the drought when all the other crops are heading out boot top high or waist high Mega Green will just shut down and wait for rain. When cutting Mega Green, cut it 3 to 4 inches off the ground. This will force the plant to come back from the crown root with 5 to 8 new plants where one plant stood before. Our “Stay Green” Characteristics helps retain leaves all the way to the ground.
