What's in the hatcher this week? The amazing Saipan Jungle Fowl and the diminutive Kikiriki, which is just fun to say no matter who you are. We also have a new line of Malay eggs and are crossing our fingers for a good hatch.
But what's coming this week? The beautiful Silver Phoenix and the fantastical, unbelievable, remarkable Madagascar Game Fowl. This is an ancient breed, perhaps one of the original oriental game birds from which most modern chickens descend. I hope these ultra rare birds hatch a few!

What's going in the incubator today? Some Flarry Eye Grey eggs, courtesy of Schleiger Farm, of Blythe, Ga. What IS the Flarry Eye Grey, you ask? Here's what Greenfire Farm had to say:

Flarry Eye Greys are beautiful game fowl that originated in Ireland and were probably brought to the United States in the late 1800s. “Flarry” is an Irish derivation of the word “fiery,” and it alludes to the bright red eye color of this breed. Flarry Eye Greys also sport a signature feather crest on their heads; a striking adornment that is unusual for game fowl. The breed is known to be calm around humans and fierce in the pit. Roosters are medium-size for game fowl and usually weigh between five and six pounds. The hens have a deep red breast that contrasts nicely with the intricate grey patterns in their feathers. They lay smallish white eggs in good numbers.
