Nine Trees Farm

We are a small family farm. The adventure started when we planted nine tiny fruit trees. Now we grow and sell hay, sheep, and fiber products.

It's that time of year... The electro-net comes out and our self-propelled w**d eaters are getting to work mowing around the buildings and equipment.
We are facing an interesting summer with a non-existent winter (and non-existent snow pack), and now what is turning into a dry spring. Praying for rain for our dry land hay crop and to keep the pastures going... And in the meantime we will take advantage of all of the green on the farm :-)

A big storm rolling in.... Up on our ridge it often feels almost like being on the bow of a ship, watching the weather roll towards us. Gorgeous, awe-inspiring, and terrifying all at once!

Daily dose of cuteness, the lambs are lining up at the gate to get their faces groomed by Flower the barn cat ❤️ (Not for the first time!) .... Notice how still and patient the one on the R is waiting for her turn :-)

Really happy with the way our lambs are shaping up so far... Rosie is 4.5 weeks and Halley (more brown) is 7 weeks. Both are out of Mark Heitstuman /Heitstuman Club Lambs ram "Miracle" and the bred ewes we purchased last fall.

My daughter's FFA Market Lamb breeding program is off to a good start... We welcomed 3 ewe lambs to the fold from the bred ewes (Harmony and Henrietta) that she bought last fall. We will be keeping one and the remaining 2 will be her Fair lambs for this year.

The first spring lamb has arrived! Henrietta delivered a beautiful little girl. ❤️

No snow to speak of, but at least the mud is frozen, lol. We have had freezing fog for days now, leading to gorgeous inches-deep hoar frost coating everything. This is a fairly frequent winter experience for us, and our power company faces the unique task of having to travel their lines, knocking the frost off every few days.... Otherwise the cumulative weight drags the lines down, putting strain on poles and even breaking the lines.

Gorgeous golden hour light this tempestuous Fall weekend (no filters, these were really the colors!). It feels more like September than December. The dill, kale, and a few other plants are still green and growing. Now I wish I had planted more cool weather crops! Just praying that this rain becomes snow soon, especially in the mountains, or we will be in for a dry summer.

One of my fall favorites the larch trees (aka Western Tamarack) are in full glory right now. Part of a small family of deciduous conifers :-)

The last 2 ladies have joined our foundation Market Lamb flock. These older gals from Heitstuman Club Lambs were bred to their ram "Miracle" and are confirmed pregnant, now we just have to be patient to see what the spring brings!
