They grow so fast. Don’t forget to let them play and get covered with dirt. Happy Mothers Day!

Wren's art from The Salt Stones is featured in this wonderful show with artists from around Vermont at Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro. Come this Saturday, 4 pm for a reading from The Salt Stones and The Serpent of Stars - newly back in print! - with Helen Whybrow and Jody Gladding and the featured artists.

An exhibition based on Helen Whybrow’s ‘The Salt Stones’ and celebrating pastoral life is a rich sensory experience of spring in Greensboro.

Trying to teach lambs to take a bottle can be whack.

We shear our Icelandics twice a year. The lustrous fall clip (the name for all the raw wool in one shearing) goes to hand spinners or to a small fiber mill to make yarn. Some of this year’s yarn also got made into ART by which you can see ❤️

The spring clip, which is much less clean and can also be felted by the time it comes off after the long winter, gets used for mulch or composted. (BTW sheep are not hurt and benefit from being shorn. Wool is a renewable resource!)

Our new yarn will be here soon from and we will share deets so stay tuned!

The sheep mamas have been busy birthing and caring for their lambs. We have two singles, five sets of twins and two sets of triplets so far. Black, brown, white and mixed - all so beautiful. Not half way yet. We have many more to come. Helen will have an open house to see and hold and learn about the lambs on April 25, 9-12.

The moment I took this I could hear distant lamb bleats and birdsong all around - new signs of life that indicate spring is here. The skies show that there is rain to come. I think we all have been waiting for this moment. Our team is working hard behind the scenes to plan for a busy season ahead. We hope you will join us here at the farm in our offerings, all of which can be found on our website or link in bio. 🐑🌸🌾

An ode to our beloved Cottonwood! Friends and visitors to the farm may notice the absence of this great tree that stood as a pillar and meant so much to many different people across time. With the help of Knoll Farm’s land steward, and the tree was safely taken down. We were stunned to see just how rotted the tree was from the inside, and we are grateful to have such dedicated local help when it comes to emotional but necessary matters! You may have experienced how deeply valued wood is to us and the memory of the Cottonwood will certainly live on.
