Thank you all so much for the calls, texts, letters, messages, comments, love and support after our last post. We deeply appreciate every one of you and apologize that we haven’t responded to everyone. We’re still very much processing and sitting with the large void that has been left in our lives. Kali was our world.

An update for you— We’ve made the decision to let Senise Family Farms take a bit of a backseat for a while. This was in the works before everything happened, we simply need to take time for each other and our animals this year. We are taking the year off from the farmers markets but you can still find us at occasional specialty markets. Our plants are still growing! Our website is still up! You can still find our goods at Northwind Natural Foods Co-op in Ironwood and Transfigure in Grand Rapids as well.

Another update— We are in the midst of finalizing details on a new adventure! Follow Father Aloha’s Video Club and Saint Maud’s to learn more about that, for now mark your calendars for August 6th at 6pm!

Again, thank you all. Your kindness is not unnoticed and we feel the warmth from your words. We appreciate you.

P.s. Yes, Zuul is asleep in this photo. 🤷‍♀️

It’s been one week since our hearts have been torn in two. We lost our sweet Kalima unexpectedly. Zuul, Rose and Michael were fortunate enough to spend her final moments together. I wish we could say that we’re all doing well but we’re not. She was an integral and wonderful part of our lives. We restructured every aspect of our lives to work with what she wanted and needed. For those that knew this queen she was a gentle soul with a facade of a killer. She lacked confidence but we made sure she knew her worth. She lived a life that she wasn’t suppose to have. Over 11 years ago we brought her home from the shelter where she was due to “check out of” soon. We didn’t have a car, we had just moved to Los Angeles, we had our sweet demon cat Stint, we lived in an apartment that didn’t allow dogs and we decided to bring home a problem child of a dog that had the most insatiable prey drive towards animals along with a willingness to redirect on people. We didn’t know much about dogs at the time but she put us in school on day one. We had been together for just around 4 years when we took her home and she single handedly formed our relationship from then on.

Kali had to live on leash for almost a year when she was inside because of her ‘need’ to kill our cat, but once Zuul came home, he worked his magic on day one and that drive stopped and she accepted him as her role model and brother.

Feeling thankful. We just helped Rose’s parents pack up for a big move and wanted to share our gratitude for their presence in our lives. We owe them forever for their care, generosity, and support! They’ve believed in what we’re doing every step of the way and we are so beyond appreciative for that. We’re going to miss them very much!!!

Please help us wish Suzi and Galen good luck on their new adventures ahead!

P.S. Their house in Wakefield just hit the market, message us for the link if you’re looking for a new home!

We had a FANTASTIC time up in the Keweenaw this weekend for Flower Moon and ’s Locavore events! We are constantly amazed at how friendly, welcoming and easy to connect with the community up there is and are so grateful for the friends we’ve made and people we’ve talked with.

Looking forward to our next visit and future local goods markets!

It’s Michael’s Birthday!!! We love him deeply and know this fever dream could never be real without him! He’s a constant source of humor who reminds me to take a breath, lighten up and keep it weird.

In his honor go watch an 80s horror film, eat some pickles, listen to stoner metal and get outside!

It’s 77 degrees and sunny with a chance of snow tomorrow 🫠 spring is finally everywhere. Spring peepers are peeping, Sandhill cranes migrate overhead, blackbirds are back, insects are starting to fill the air. We actually slept with the windows open last night! Here are some of our plant friends peeking out to say hello!

Garlic, chives, marshmallow, rhubarb, daffodil, columbine, maple, lilac, crocus, exposed human skin!

What signs of spring are you most excited about?
