SO YEAH! Things have been very busy at the orchard. Selling a ton of cider and apples and well, everything we got. It's testing our ability to keep up and so far we have for the most part. It's been really great to see so many dropping by during our last season and we still have some time left to continue on. But time really does pass by so fast and as I look back to all the seasons before, well, I wonder where all that time went. And that will be what I will carry forward with me as I move on in my life in retirement; all the memories of the past, especially all the people I have met, friends I made along the way and all the love and support of so many customers. As you know, we will shutdown on the last day of November at the end of Thanksgiving weekend. So time is no longer on our side. So keep coming to the orchard until the clock chimes our final hour together.

WE ARE OPEN FOR THE SEASON. WE HAVE GINGER GOLDS, GALAS, AND HONEYCRISP APPLES. CIDER LOVERS WILL NEED TO WAIT A BIT LONGER FOR US TO GET ENOUGH APPLES FOR MAKING IT. WE ARE STILL TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR PEOPLE TO WORK IN THE FRUITSTAND. SOON WE WILL FILL THOSE POSITIONS. SO IF YOU HAVE A SERIOUS INTEREST IN WORKING THE SEASON THEN GET HERE AND FILL OUT A APPLICATION MUCH SOONER RATHER THAN LATER. AGE IS 17 AND UP WITH AVAILABILITY AND FLEXIBILITY

Glad to say that Jennifer will be back in the store this year but she does need more help. So any person who wants to work in the fruitstand needs to text my text line at 423-413-7418. Any person means anyone 17 or older. If over qualified, well, don't worry about it. So text the number for a time to fill out an application and a interview. So yes; another season is here but as many of you are already aware, it will be our farewell season. I will be retiring after my last and final 54th season. We will close the doors a little early this year at the end of November. So keep that in mind as you shop for the holidays. Please come and enjoy one last apple and cider season with us and take a stroll down memory lane. 🍏🍎

Hello World; And I hope your own world is all good as well. Today, this post is more of a personal letter to all my customers. First, let me say, it’s not gonna be all a bunch of bad news. So that said, YES; WE WILL BE OPEN FOR THE 2025 APPLE SEASON.

It’s not any kind of secret that we are selling off this land that all of you know as Fairmount Orchard or simply as The Orchard. Selling does not necessarily mean The Orchard will end. Changes are inevitable. Fairmount Orchard is owned by Fairmount Holdings, Inc. The Orchard isn’t the only property owned by the holding company. Selling off The Orchard, as you now know it, will mean my retirement from farming. When that does happen, then I will be semi-retired. I will still work part-time from my home office overseeing Fairmount Holdings, Inc. My days of climbing up onto the tractor are coming to an end and the upcoming apple season will mark my 54th season. As with many my age, I have other plans for my many remaining years yet to come. So yes, selling the property at The Orchard will be a major fork in the road for me personally. It may take a little time yet for me and you to realize that change, but it will come. There is nothing that can change that now. Fairmount Orchard itself may yet continue on other property owned elsewhere. That decision has yet to be determined. If that does happen, I wouldn’t actively be at the helm of that operation. But it would be my decision if Fairmount Orchard continues elsewhere. And you never know, someone may want to buy The Orchard to continue farming operations within the Town of Walden. Changes are inevitable, but doesn’t necessarily mean the end. At least, Not Yet!

Hey Folks, been so busy I haven't updated you guys. Basically we are heading towards the main part of the season and apples are now coming in off the trees faster. We now Honeycrisps, Golden Del, Red Del, Some small Galas, Fuji, Jonagolds, Ambrosia, Mutsu. More are coming as we go along. We of course have plenty of cider. And all the jams, jellies, butters, sauces, etc and other goodies as well. Fall starts Sunday. Can't wait for those cool breezy days ahead. So come on in and get your fill

ATTENTION CIDER LOVERS, We just made our first batch of cider of the season. This morning I will be busy jugging it up. Right now its in a refrigerated tank. We will start getting it in the fruitstand as we jug it up. So I expect to have it ready for ya by late morning sometime. Apples are starting to come too. We now have the Honeycrips, Gala, and Ginger Golds. So get ready, it's Cider Time

That said, we will spend most of that first day just trying to get the store stocked up with all your favorite goodies. We will start this season with some Ginger Golds and Honeycrips. Cider always takes a bit more time to get started but we are working at it. Jenifer will be back in the store this year but she need more help for sure. Store hours may be a bit unstable until we find that help. So any person who wants to work in the fruitstand needs to text my text line at 423-413-7418. Any person means anyone 17 or older. The season is now well under way. We now have Golden Del, Gala, Some Ginger Gold, Honey Crisp, Jonagold, Ambrosia, Mutsu. We also have a full selection of apple butter, jams, jellies, and much more. Time to get your fill as more apples are coming. Cider is also here and we have plenty of it. So come and get it

It's that time again. We open Monday the 4th. The train is leaving the station, Finally!. We will start with Ginger Golds, Galas, and Honeycrisps. Been a difficult start to the season but I know things will smooth out and we'll have another good apple season. As expected, gonna have to wait a bit longer for cider but it's coming 😋. Here we go!

Today I have good news to share. After many interviews with those that have applied to work in the fruitstand, I have found a couple of very nice ladies willing to take on the job. They are now starting to undergo training and helping to setup the fruitstand a bit more. I have a high degree of confidence in these two new employees. I would like to thank all that applied and let them know that their applications are kept for some time and they could still get a call from me in the future. Many fine people applied. I would also like to say THANKS to all my customers who are waiting for the doors to open. As of right now we may open for short periods of time as we move forward with a couple of days of interruptions the first 3 day of Sept. The main opening day will be the 4th of Sept with me in the store and it's game on from there with the girls. Don't expect cider right off the bat. That will take a little longer. It's been a crazy lately but it looks like the train is about to leave the station
