Think ranching is just moving cows? Today, it’s all about logistics, land management, and a whole lot of hoping for rain. 🌧️

We’re up at the north ranch today loading the spreader and getting our hay fields fertilized. A lot of folks don't realize we actually manage two separate ranches to keep our Angus and Wagyu herd thriving! Spreading fertilizer now is a crucial step for our soil health—especially when making sure the ground is recovering properly—to guarantee we yield the high-quality hay we need to get through next winter.

Running an operation across two properties means you’re always planning six months ahead. Right now, our eyes are on the sky, praying that the forecasted rain pulls through to get this fertilizer down to the roots.

We need to talk about Number 10’s “Twin Watch”... and the harder side of ranch life. 💔

Today, we’re stepping away from the fun to share some heavy news.

We are pretty sure she lost her pregnancy, along with about six of our other mama cows.

We’ve been racking our brains trying to figure out why. We were incredibly diligent this winter—making sure the herd always had plenty of hay and molasses to keep them fed and healthy. But the reality of taking over land with years of deferred maintenance is that you inherit its hidden problems, too.

The field they spent the winter in has a lot of young camphor trees. Normally, the cows just use them as scratching posts to help with flies. But right now, them eating those camphor leaves is the only thing that makes sense of this heartbreaking loss.

It’s a bitter pill to swallow. Balancing our full-time jobs while trying to restore this land means we simply can’t fix everything overnight. The camphor trees out here range from a foot to 35 feet tall, and clearing them is a massive, ongoing undertaking.

But ranching is about resilience and learning the hard way. We are already adjusting our strategy. Next season, we’ll be aggressively cutting down those younger camphor trees long before the cows ever step hoof in that winter pasture.

Good news is 10 is pregnant again and Twin Watch will be back soon.

The realities of raising animals and managing land aren't always picturesque, but we believe in sharing the lows right alongside the highs. Drop a ❤️ in the comments if you’ve ever had to learn a tough lesson the hard way, and thank you for sticking by us through it all.

Ben thinks he’s fishing. The gator thinks he’s at a buffet.

There’s never a dull moment at Braze Ranch. Even a "relaxing" afternoon by the water comes with a side of Florida wildlife management. 🎣

We work hard to raise our Angus and Wagyu right, but we also make sure to take a second to enjoy the ecosystem we’re stewarding. Even if that means sharing our fishing hole with a very patient, very hungry neighbor.

Double tap if you’d stay for the fish (even with the gator watching)! 💕

We’re not just growing grass; we’re growing a legacy from the soil up.

Sunn H**p is a total overachiever. As a legume, it’s a natural nitrogen fixer—which basically means it’s feeding the soil while it grows. For the cows? It’s a high-protein forage that keeps them thriving. For the land? It’s building long-term health and resilience so we can keep doing what we love for generations.

3 inches of liquid gold 🌧

It’s not enough to officially end the drought here, but after months of dust and "maybe next time" clouds, we'll take every drop.

Drop a 🌧 if you're celebrating a little rain this week!

The secret to the best meatloaf you’ve ever had? Start with better beef. 🥩

Dinner tonight at the ranch is a classic meatloaf with Braze Ranch beef.

BR beef, onion, BR eggs, BR garlic, ketchup, breadcrumbs, salt, Worcestershire, italian seasonings, pepper.

Bake for 40 minutes at 350. Top with the sauce, bake for another 20 minutes. Sauce: ketchup, white vinegar, Worcestershire, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder.

Measure with your heart 🥣. Serve with microwave mac and frozen veg for a busy family friendly meal or level up with homemade mash and sautéed spinach.

It’s simple, honest comfort food that proves you don’t need a long ingredient list when the stewardship on the land is done right.

We don't just raise beef; we engineer quality.

Filling out the breeding planner today! ✍️ Here’s the breakdown of how we manage the herd at Braze Ranch:

🧬 Step 1: AI with sexed semen to grow our future replacement heifers.

🥩 Step 2: Bring in the Wagyu bull for the rest of the herd to ensure premium marbling.

It’s all about our “grass-first” philosophy—making sure every animal has the best genetics to thrive on our pastures and eventually provide the best quality for your table. 🌾

Forecasted rain and the drought. 🌧️❌

I’m sharing this post today because it perfectly captures the reality we’re facing here at Braze Ranch.

We see the forecast. We see the percentages. But as any rancher will tell you, we aren’t holding our breath. Even if we do get the rain they’re promising, the truth is that it wouldn’t be enough to end this drought—or even get us anywhere close to where we need to be. 🌵

Drought isn't just about a dry week; it’s a long-term depletion of the subsoil moisture that our grass-first philosophy depends on. It takes months—sometimes seasons—of consistent, soaking moisture to truly recover.

Do you live in an area currently affected by the drought, or are you getting more rain than you know what to do with? Let's talk in the comments. 👇

Warm weather at Braze Ranch brings a lot of good things—but it also brings the flies. ☀️🦟

Last year, we relied on permethrin for fly control, but this season we’ve noticed some resistance. Part of our commitment to stewardship and animal welfare means we don’t just keep doing the same thing if it isn't working for the cows.

So, we’re pivoting. We’ve switched to Prolate Lintox, and to make the job a little more efficient, we’re using a battery-powered water gun to spray the herd. 🔫

Is it more frequent work? Yes. But it’s easier on us and, more importantly, it keeps the cattle comfortable and stress-free. Happy cows are the priority, even if it means changing our methods.

Stewardship is a constant game of observation and adjustment. We’re always learning, always shifting, and always keeping the health of the animals at the center of it all. 🤠🌱

Do you have any "unconventional" tools that make your daily chores easier? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Meet our resident pond alligator. While most people might see a predator, for us, it’s just another sign of a healthy, thriving ecosystem. Part of our grass-first philosophy and regenerative practices means we share this land with all kinds of wildlife.

As long as she stays on her side of the pond and leaves the herd alone, we’re happy to let her hang out. It’s all part of the balance we work so hard to maintain here at Braze Ranch.

Raising beef with honesty and stewardship means respecting the land and everything that calls it home (even the neighbors with scales). 🤠🐍

Do you have any "unusual" neighbors where you live, or is a sunning alligator a bit too much for your Tuesday? Let me know in the comments! 👇
