As the North American Blueberry Council shares this important update on Farm Bill passage, we’re proud to highlight Florida’s presence and engagement in Washington.

Florida was well represented by Brittany H. Lee FL Blue Farms, member and Past President of the Florida Blueberry Growers Association, who attended and advocated on behalf of Florida growers—ensuring our industry’s voice remains strong at the national level.

This milestone reflects the power of grower engagement and unified advocacy across the specialty crop sector.

This week blueberry growers from across the US as well as BC, Peru, Chile and Mexico were in Washington, D.C. for the North American Blueberry Council’s annual Hill Climb — sharing the story of our farms and advocating for the future of our industry.

A highlight for me was the incredible opportunity to meet with Secretary of Ag Brook Rollins. A sincere thank you to Kat Cammack for her continued leadership and support of agriculture.
Yesterday she helped move the Farm Bill out of committee and also worked to secure Secretary Brooke Rollins’ signature on the disaster declaration for Florida following the devastating freeze our growers experienced earlier this season and still had time to meet with growers in the hallway outside her committee room!

Moments like these remind us how important it is for farmers to be present in the policy conversations that impact our livelihoods.

Grateful for the opportunity to represent Florida growers alongside the incredible team at the North American Blueberry Council and share the real stories from our farms.

Spring pollination is underway in North Florida - we are about halfway thru pollinating our blueberries 🌸🐝

Bees are hard at work moving pollen from bloom to bloom.
A critical step that helps each flower become the berries we’ll harvest in the weeks ahead. Here’s to healthy blooms and a strong crop!

Day 2 of the statewide blueberry tour is complete.

North American Blueberry Council was honored to welcome Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson, alongside leaders from USDA, UF/IFAS, FFVA, and our congressional delegation. Together we walked damaged fields, saw split canes and lost blooms, and talked honestly about what recovery will require.

The impacts are real—on family farms, rural jobs, and America’s spring blueberry supply. Florida agriculture is resilient, and we’re stronger working together.

Thank you to the Hill Family & H&A Farms for hosting the first stop.

Today growers opened their farms to show the real-world impact of last week’s devastating freeze.
This tour, hosted by the North American Blueberry Council, brought together farmers, researchers, and policymakers to walk the rows, examine damaged plants, and talk honestly about what the months ahead will mean for Florida blueberries.

A sincere thank you to the partners who joined us in the field:

• Florida Blueberry Growers Association
• UF IFAS
• Florida Farm Bureau
• Farm Service Agency (FSA)
• Congresswoman Kat Cammack’s office
• Representative Chad Johnson’s office

Seeing split canes, lost blooms, and entire blocks set back years puts this event into perspective.

These farms represent family livelihoods, rural jobs, and a critical piece of America’s spring blueberry supply.

We are grateful to every grower who shared their story today and to the leaders willing to listen and work toward solutions.

The road ahead will be challenging, but Florida agriculture is resilient—and we’re stronger when we face it together.

More visits continue tomorrow.
