Walking through the mudroom on my way to do chores this morning and it starts raining Muscovy ducklings. Aurora successfully hatched at least 13 ducklings in our attic. She is hoarding a few up there and the other 10 that either jumped to freedom or were collected by Audri are waiting in a brooder for mom and the rest of her brood to come down and go in a growout pen.

Send good thoughts for Clover. She had pneumonia. Emergency vet visit last night with Hill and Harbor Veterinary Service...

Send good thoughts for Clover. She had pneumonia. Emergency vet visit last night with Hill and Harbor Veterinary Services. Aggressive antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. Hopefully she will feel better soon.

*May be disturbing* When ducklings don't hatch. I usually check the unhatched eggs to make sure that no one is alive and stuck, but also to see what happened. The first duckling had an internal pip, but no external pip. You can see that it never absorbed the yolk. This one may have been shrink wrapped, which would be my fault. I opened the incubator. The second ducking didn't even have an internal pip. The sack is fully intact and you can see it's little bill and the yolk sack. The third one, shown in the egg was shrink wrapped and had an internal pip. If you made it this far, I have included a picture of a cute healthy fluffy duckling too. I will take more pictures of the healthy ducklings tomorrow when they are all fluffed up and it isn't wet outside.
