Your grandpa probably told you to put a Hereford bull on those black cows, and now a university has proved him right.

The University of Illinois spent years following the daughters of 600 Angus cows. The white-faced baldie heifers raised a first calf 90 percent of the time. The straight black heifers managed 76.

That's 14 more calves out of every 100 heifers. The old-timers didn't have spreadsheets. They had eyes, and they paid attention to which cows were still out there every spring.

Who was the old-timer in your family who swore by baldies?

13 head washed in 4 hours !!! Ruby and Evan were huge helpers to get the prewash for the open house completed. Final wash session Friday before we swing the gate Saturday morning.
Given the warmer weather the hours are extended to dawn till dusk. Likely looking for shade and fans when it gets hot hot hot. But don’t let the weather keep you from coming over and we will make it happen for you!!
