🎄 And just like that, we’re shifting gears from fall to Christmas at Birch Island Farm! 🎄

We wanted to share our beautiful new Tim Weberding ornament and magnet with you!

Tim Weberding ornaments are iconic! Their website says, “Craftsmanship you can recognize,” and I can personally attest to that!

We were in Utah, wandering through a gift shop, when I spotted an ornament from across the store.

I said, “That’s a Weberding!”

My daughter asked, “How do you know?”

My response? “You just KNOW!” 😂

Their craftsmanship is truly that distinctive, and we are so proud to feature their beautiful creations at Birch Island Farm. Even better, they’re made just about 35 minutes down the road in Batesville, Indiana. So technically, when you pick yours up at BIF you are supporting two local businesses! ❤️

🍂 Our final fall weekend is here!
We’ll be open Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM–6 PM. Then we’ll close up shop, work a little Christmas magic, and reopen on Black Friday! Stay tuned for our Christmas season hours.

Last night I slipped away from stop 10 on the Covered Bridge Country Cruise to visit stops three and four: the Meltzer Cabin and Homestead!

Frederick Meltzer, a German immigrant, put down roots in Shelby County, Indiana, in 1857. The land is home to several historic buildings, including an 1850s farmhouse, an 1882 Italianate-style farmhouse, and the 1875 Liberty Township Schoolhouse, also built in the Italianate style.

And if that isn’t enough history for you, there’s a 60-acre old-growth forest featuring oak and hickory trees that are more than 300 years old! We’ll get into more of that when we visit stop number two.

What beautiful gems we have tucked away our corner of the world!

If you’re looking for a nice little afternoon excursion, I highly recommend the Hoosier Landmarks for Learning Covered Bridge Country Cruise. There’s so much history and beauty right here in our own backyard.

Since I recommend this cruise to just about everyone who visits us at Birch Island Farm (stop 10 on the tour), I figured perhaps I ought to actually do it myself so I know what I’m talking about! 😂

🎓🎀 Introducing the youngest graduates of Birch Island Farm Bow University (BIFBU)! 🎀🎓

Please join us in congratulating the Haehl sisters and their amazing creations! 👏❤️ These talented young ladies earned their BIFBU diplomas with flying colors!

It’s crazy times up here at Birch Island Farm! You just never know when an impromptu wreath and bow-making class might break out! We accept students of all ages and abilities, even bow prodigies as clearly these young ladies are! 😂🎀

🍂 A little update on our hours this week:

We will be open by chance or arrangement. That pesky job that actually pays the bills is going to be particularly demanding this week!

If you’re in the area, feel free to send us a DM. If we’re home, we’ll gladly welcome you! Otherwise, we’ll see you Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 AM for our FINAL fall weekend! 🍁🎃

I escaped the farm yesterday afternoon to run a few errands. On my way to town, I thought I’d stop by the free library (you know, for all that free reading time I have). 😂📚

I recommend the Hoosier Landmarks for Learning Covered Bridge Country Cruise to just about everyone who visits Birch Island Farm. But have I actually done the entire cruise myself? Nope!

Can you do it all in one trip? Absolutely! Unless, of course, you happen to be one of the stops along the way and have a farm to run. 🤷‍♀️

So, I’ve decided to showcase each stop along the route as time allows!

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to stop in while one of the wonderful volunteers, Alicia, was there doing her thing. She graciously shared some of the history of the Liberty Township Schoolhouse, which was MUCH better than having me read something to you straight off Wikipedia!

I love the history tucked away in our little corner of Indiana, and I’m excited to share more of it with you.

The schoolhouse is open today, and so are we! Come take a little country cruise, enjoy some local history, and stop by Birch Island Farm to say hello!

Who knows? Maybe one of these days I’ll actually complete the entire cruise myself! 😂🍂

🎀 A Little Peek Behind the Scenes at Birch Island Farm Bow University! 🎓🍂

Ever wonder what goes on at one of our wreath and bow-making classes? Well, here’s a little sneak peek!

Your class includes a wreath, ribbon, decorating materials, a light snack, soft drinks, and plenty of individual instruction! Bow makers are also available for an additional purchase if you’d like to continue creating masterpieces at home.

Bring your girlfriends, bring your mom, bring your sister-or bring them all! No experience necessary, just come ready to have a good time, share some laughs, and leave with a beautiful creation of your very own!

I’ll admit, there were a few skeptical side-eyes at the beginning. 👀😂 But once they found their rhythm, there was no stopping them!

From “Are you sure I can do this?” to “Look what I made!”- they absolutely nailed it! 🎀

Congratulations, graduates! Your bows are beautiful, and your diplomas are in the mail. (Just kidding about the diplomas.) 😂
