It’s been a crazy start to 2026 and I’ve been a bit absent from here. Just popping in to say I’m finally getting back to quilting after an unexpected almost two month break and to share a bit of the quilt I just finished a few minutes ago.

So far this year I’ve quilted 17 quilts. I feel like that is not a very large number, but it’s 9 more than what I had quilted by this same time last year. So I’m counting that as a win! Lol

Freddie has a lifetime total of 120,459,604 stitches and at 9 years old he is still going strong. I think we make a pretty good team!

Quilting design is Whisper from My Creative Stitches.

You guys! I loaded this quilt this evening and I am so excited to get started on it! It’s an amazing piece of handwork - all hand stitched and beautifully flat and square. I can’t wait to share when it’s finished.

And I had to share this pic of our adorable granddaughter proudly showing off the sweatshirt Grandma made for her. She’s not feeling well but doing her best to give a big smile. 😂🥰

It’s been a while since I’ve shared anything here - it’s been a busy few weeks. I took off most of December because sometimes we just need a break, you know?

Anyway, Freddie and I have been working again and finishing some fun quilts for you all. Thanks so much for allowing me the privilege of quilting your tops!

Here’s just a glimpse of what’s been happening. A couple pics are just of the back until they are back with their owner.

Have you got your quilt groove back in this new year?

Working hard to finish up the Christmas quilts. This one was a lot of fun to do and I love how it turned out. I have a second one just like it that I’ll be starting tomorrow. It’s like seeing double! 😁

The turtle quilt lived up to its name - as in I was slow as a turtle in getting this finished. 🤪 What should have taken about an hour ended up taking me almost two days. Oy! Some quilts are like that, you know?

But now it’s done and this happy little turtle can trot off to his home now. 🐢

Look at these adorable panda bears! Makes me want to find one to snuggle! 🥰

Poly Puff batting gave the top some p**f, and I love how it shows off the quilting design. I used ‘Carefree’ - you can get it from Urban Elementz.

I used ‘Malachite’ on the farm panel quilt and it was the perfect choice. It’s also available on UE.

Of course, no post would be complete without pics of the back so I included them for you. Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!

This is a big quilt! 101” x 101”. Took a whole day to quilt. I used a design called ‘Ada E2E’ and I’m happy with the finish.

I have a second one to quilt that looks just like this one, so I better get busy!

Christmas quilts are coming in, and this one is a beauty! I love the way this Ada panto looks on this quilt.

I have several partially filled bobbins from my longarm. What to do with all that thread? It’s too expensive to just toss. So I use them on my regular sewing machine. The lighter colors are great for piecing and for sewing on bindings. Darker threads can be used for basting. I just put them on my spool pin and thread the machine as usual. There’s a weird kind of satisfaction whenever I empty another bobbin. 🤪🧵

What are your tips for emptying your bobbins?

Binding is ready for five of the panel quilts I finished a couple days ago. Guess what I’ll be doing this evening?? 😁🪡🧵

I usually reserve Sunday’s for being lazy and doing whatever or nothing at all. But today I loaded up this cute WV quilt so I could get it finished before bad weather hit. (I won’t turn on Freddie when there’s a chance of lightning)

I love the way the quilt turned out. It was a quick stitch out, so I still got to be lazy! 😁

Design is called Circles & Squares.

I hope you’re having a perfectly relaxed Sunday too!

Today I had 8 panel quilts to do. To save time I loaded a wide backing (it was 108” wide) and then placed the panel quilts on it like a big puzzle. The first 5 tops had the same design quilted so I could treat them like one top, and the last 3 used different thread and a different design so they were treated like another single top. This saved so much time over loading and quilting each one individually.

“Work smarter, not harder”. I don’t know where this saying originated, but I try to use it often. Lol.

ETA: It’s best to use non-directional designs when working this way. Both Malachite and Diagonal Plaid are fantastic non-directional designs. You can get them from Urban Elementz.
