Moved our herd sires to a pasture for some rest and recuperation (not that they really need it).

Decided to ride the Palomino Princess for the first time in a long time. She still gets right after it!

Here’s a shot of what you see (or don’t see) when we use a pickup to pull the wheel rakes.

This is sorghum-sudan that had been lying for a few days and had settled down quite a ways.

Also, if any 2nd Gen gurus know a surefire fix to the ABS/BRAKE light problem, let me know.

We were fortunate enough to lease some Gallagher eShepherd collars from the South Dakota Soil Health Coalition. Collared these yearling replacement heifers back on July 23rd.

Efficiency on display! Kurly managed to gain nearly 2 lbs/day through the breeding season.

We’ll see how hard he worked after preg testing - he better have done his job!

Here’s part 2 of our dryland hay project. It got about 2.5”-3” over the first three weeks or so and then the rain shut off.

It’s also interesting to see how the two varieties have been responding to the weather.

The Gunslinger grows more upright and seems to have more tonnage, while the Buffalo Honey looks like it wants to canopy out and shade the ground.
