I have called East TN home no matter where life has taken me in the world. While the people and politics here have truly broken my heart the last several years, today I am thinking about the best of these Smoky Mountains. I grew up with two incredible women as my heroes. Dolly Parton and Pat Summit. They both seemed bigger than life itself. Now that they are both gone, it's really hard to explain the empty feeling in my heart. Almost like part of my soul is missing.

But, both leave behind a legacy that will never die. They changed the lives of so many people, especially young women. Their wisdom, philanthropy, talents and pure goodness will forever radiate through East TN and the world. This state may continue to break my heart, but it also gave me Dolly and Pat. Women who taught to aspire to BE more and to GIVE more. My heart aches in my Tennessee Mountain home today, but is also grateful for these two treasures. In my mind they are singing Rocky Top together and have told each other, "Job well done". May we all strive to be more like them and make them proud, wherever they may be.

I will always love them, and Go Vols!

I heard the LGDs barking a few minutes ago, then got this notification. That bear was hightailing it away from my animals. LGDs are worth their weight in gold!

We have lots and lots of black bears here. None have been in my pasture, near animal pens or my house for years since we have had the dogs. I understand they were here first, and they are welcome on my other 20ish acres, just not right here. ❤️

I have three, yes THREE broody hens right now. I took eggs and kicked them out for days, then decided to just let them be the hens they are. This is the first of who knows how many chicks to hatch. They are so adorable until they start to look like chickens. 😂😂

Apache and I upgraded to a loveseat for our nightly lap time snuggles. At almost 17 months and 75 pounds, the chair we have been using for the last year plus just wasn't working for me anymore. 😂 Took him a little over a week to try it out, but he finally decided it was ok last night and looks pretty pleased. ❤️
