Beltane on the farm 🔥🌿

This time of year, you don’t have to call it anything special to feel it,
the land already knows.

The soil is warming.
The animals are thriving.
Everything is growing faster than you can keep up with.

Traditionally, Beltane marked the start of the fertile season,
when fires were lit to bless the land, protect livestock,
and pray for abundance in the months ahead.

And whether you call that tradition, nature, or just the way God designed it,
you can feel the shift.

It’s a season of:
• new life
• hard growth
• long days and honest work
• and trusting what you’ve planted will come up

Around here, we don’t worship the fire
but we respect what it represents.

Letting go of what’s dead.
Making space for what’s meant to grow.

Under the Carolina moon,
with dirt on our hands and faith in what’s coming.

🔥🌙🌱

Well Tom and his 3 hens had a surprise in store for us. I knew something was up because egg production stopped right when it should have increased. I’m having trouble counting but aren’t they all so cute? Bourbon Red Turkeys are such amazing parents. They are saving me room in the incubator for more chicks.

We have 3 Kune Kune piglets still available at Pine Thicket Farm, and statistically speaking at least one of you has been thinking about adding a pig to your life.

These little freeloaders currently specialize in:
• Being ridiculously cute
• Eating snacks they didn’t pay for
• Judging humans from the mud
• Starting their day screaming for breakfast

Kune Kunes are actually one of the best pigs for homesteads. They’re friendly, great grazers, and way less destructive than most pigs.

So if you’ve ever said:
“One day I’m going to start a little farm…”

This could be your origin story.

We raise our hens in the forest with access to the pasture out front, and sometimes that freedom means they get a little too creative. We’d been collecting way fewer eggs lately. It turns out one broody girl had her own hidden stash tucked on the top of a shelter. She can’t hatch that many, but she’s trying. What an attitude
