I've experienced some pretty cool things in life. But getting to make my kids bacon, eggs and hasbrowns for breakfast, knowing that every scrap of that food was sustainably produced and harvested on our own farm, completely independent from a toxic capitalistic food system?Now that's pretty cool 🖤

The Narragansett turkey is a historic variety, unique to North America, and is know for their beautiful plumage, excellent calm temperament, and good maternal abilities. They lay between 40 to 50 eggs per year between February and April. Keep an eye out for hatchlings for sale next spring 🦃🐣

Well since it's almost time to plant again I suppose I should deal with the rest of last year's abundance that's been living rent free in my freezer... don't forget to save your skins when making tomato sauce, toss them in the food processor and then add back to your sauce to cook down! Tomato skins contain essential amino acids and high amounts of minerals including zinc, manganese, copper, and iron, and many others, that also function as antioxidants in the body 🍅 save yourself, eat local 🤘

Behold! The great 2023 corn harvest! Feast your eyes, for we shall not starve this winter 🫠

An excellent example of "murphys law" in farming. We planted the same type, in the same stretch of field, same care and feeding regimen, same time frame as last year, and last years harvest was fantastic. Thinking it's a combination of heat and water stress, and possibly a lack of nitrogen... All we can do is pick back up and try again next year!
