This Thanksgiving help protect your pipes by pouring cooking grease in a can rather than down the drain where it can cause blockages.

EDIT: Based on the number of questions we received today, we will delay maintenance at the Cedar Creek Water Reclamation Facility until Monday, November 17. Additional information is below to help address your questions.

The Cedar Creek facility is a 365 day a year, 24 hour a day operation and maintenance activities are necessary to ensure we can continue to provide critical wastewater treatment for the roughly 500,000 residents we serve in Eastern Nassau County. As such, we need to initiate this necessary project soon. Once it is initiated, we can provide both the community an estimate of how long it will take to complete.

The maintenance crew at Cedar Creek Water Reclamation Facility will be doing a hot water power wash on the primary tanks to remove grease from the tipping weirs in the tanks. No chemicals are used in this process. The job will be performed from roughly 7 am - 2:30 pm Monday through Friday. The door to the primary building needs to be open both to accommodate the hose from the power washer and to provide adequate ventilation for this confined space maintenance activity. As a result there may be more noticeable odors. Once the project is initiated we will be able to give a better estimate of how long the job will take to complete. No work will be done on weekends or holidays. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this maintenance is necessary for maintaining plant processes. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected].
