As we prepare for the exciting things we are doing this year i really took some time to think about all that we have done since we received my grandmother's diagnosis. I would like to share with you what we are doing as a family to work together, to raise awareness, and to better the quality of life not only for my grandmother, but for those also affected by this horrible disease in our community. Since the Diagnoses we have:
-Attended multiple annual Alzheimers walks
-Participated in Ohio’s 2014, 2015, (2016 April 20th) “Memory Day” at the Ohio Statehouse to speak with our state elected officials about Alzheimer’s
-Founded a local group called “Moon City Music & Memory” to provide individual personalized Music players for Alzheimer’s Patients
-Organized a city wide viewing of the documentary “Alive Inside” to raise donations to start a Music for Memory program in our local care facilities
-Found out my aunt also has Alzheimers
- Spoken on local radio, at local festival, and at local concerts to raise awareness of Alzheimers, and the potential benefit of a Music for Memory campaign in our area
-Raised thousands of dollars for our state and local Alzheimers walks as well as Music for Memory Campaign
- Had a song composed for my grandmother and her famous saying, “Keep a smile on your face, and a song in your heart"
