My thoughts on the flood of food safety news... The problem is NOT lettuce! The problem is NOT jalapeno peppers. The problem is WHERE IT WAS PRODUCED AND PROCESSED !!!! Both came from MEXICO. These large, multinational company's say that they produce to the same standards as the US. That may be true in their plants, but in the fields, there is far less control. Both of these problems starts with F***L MATERIAL !!!! LACK OF CLEANLYNESS. For DECADES, amongst many political administrations, only 10-15% of the food imports are inspected at the US border. And, once again, here we go again...... illness caused by food problems. Buy LOCAL produce and, or, that which produced in the US.!! Start talking to your legislator to demand 100% inspection at the border!!! We farmers have ask for this, but there are too few of us for the politicians to take note. THE AMERICAN CONSUMER IS BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY THESE LARGE COMPANIES WHO DON'T GROW IN THE US. Please pass this on to others. Tom
