šŸ“£This is by no means farm related, but it is our life and our journey.šŸ“£

Six years ago this October, one phone call almost changed my kids’ and my life forever.

It was the kind of nightmare I wouldn’t wish on anyone. By the grace of God, my husband survived. That truck did the very last thing it was ever meant to do, it protected him when it mattered most. For that, I’ll always be grateful.

Over the years, it became just another part of the front yard. I stopped noticing it. Life moved forward, and somehow it just blended into the background.

But today, it was finally hauled away.

It’s strange how a piece of twisted metal can carry so much weight. While I’ll always be thankful for what that truck did, I’m also thankful to finally close that chapter. Today, the last physical reminder of that morning is gone.

Some things you never forget, but sometimes letting go of what’s left behind is part of healing.

Ever tried getting good pictures of a goat kid? Yeah… they don’t exactly cooperate.

Before we let Yankee and Purdy roam the backyard for some fresh green grass and a little exercise, I figured I’d try to snap a few good pictures of Yankee.

Needless to say, at just one week old, standing still isn’t really his thing. Every time I’d get ready to take a picture, he’d be bouncing, running, or headed in a completely different direction. Safe to say this little guy has two speeds: asleep and full throttle.

I try not to breed every single year, but I think that’s about to change now that we’re shifting more toward the efficiency of raising meat goats.

Today’s a perfect reminder of just how rarely I actually have kids on the ground. Our newest little guy is officially one week old, so it was time for his CD&T. No big deal, right? I know I’ve got a vial in the fridge…

Wrong. šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø It expired two months ago.

Then it hit me… my last kidding season was in 2024. šŸ˜‚ So here I am making a special trip to Tractor Supply for one tiny bottle of vaccine. Farm life keeps you humble.

Yankee… that’s not what they mean by Hump Day, buddy.

Life on the farm isn’t just work. Every now and then, you have to take a break, cool off in the pool, and make a few memories before heading back to the chores.

šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø Happy 4th of July from Rockin 4M Farm! šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

Today we’re celebrating faith, freedom, family, and the simple blessings that come with life on the farm.

May your holiday be safe, your hearts be full, and your kidding season be filled with healthy, vibrant kids that keep you smiling.

This year, our celebration came with a surprise. Purdy and Rocky had an unexpected little buckling just in time for Independence Day. It only seemed fitting to name him Yankee. ā¤ļø

From Yankee and the rest of our crew, thank you for following along on our homestead journey. We hope you have a wonderful Fourth of July filled with laughter, fireworks, and memories to cherish.

Happy Independence Day! God bless, and stay safe! šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ

Well… apparently we had a little sneaky link happen. šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Ms. Purdy and ol’ Rocky somehow managed to squeeze in a one-night stand without us knowing. We got quite the surprise at feeding time today when a tiny unexpected arrival greeted us!

Guess they were keeping a secret better than we thought.

The electric fencing is almost complete! We just have a few more spots to finish before we can run the wire and install the ground rods. Of course, Lady and Rocky had to come inspect my work, and naturally, they couldn’t resist doing their signature ballerina dances to reach the tree leaves, because apparently the grass just isn’t good enough.

Remember our buck, Rocky? We brought him home in March 2025 when he was just 2 months old. It’s been so rewarding watching him grow over this past year. While he’s still a young buck with plenty of maturing left to do, he’s developing into a really nice herd sire.

One of my favorite things about Rocky is his temperament. He’s the kind of buck you can walk right into the pen with, and all he wants is attention and scratches. Combined with the hardiness and genetics he brings to our herd, we couldn’t be happier with him.

The three doelings we’ve raised here at home are getting moved into the paddock so they can finally learn the electric fence. They’ve tested the boundaries a few too many times, so it’s time for a little education before breeding season rolls around.

Come October, Rocky will finally get to meet his ladies, and we’re excited to see what he produces in his very first breeding season.

Made the tough decision to part ways with our homegrown buck and a few of our does. It’s always bittersweet watching animals you’ve raised move on, but we’re excited about the direction we’re taking the herd. Our GenMaster buck has been a part of Rockin 4M Farm since he was just 2 months old, and we’re eager to see the impact he’ll have on our Does this coming season.

We’re also still on the lookout for a few more does to add to our program. If you’re in the Warner or Muskogee, Oklahoma area and have any available, feel free to send us a message!
