When Kyle and I started Whiskey Hollow 10 years ago, we never anticipated it would grow into what it has. We were simply having fun, trying something new making syrup because the trees were there so why not? We literally had no idea what we were doing, but I can still hear those very first drops of sap hitting the tank. I think that was the moment we were hooked. I’m actually positive it was.
We loved seeing what Whiskey Hollow turned into and we loved even more it was something we could do together that supported our family. The kids and their friends were raised spending their Christmas breaks working in preparation for the next sap season. Trudging through the woods, usually freezing, sometimes complaining, but making memories they still talk about.
Kyle is woven into every aspect of this business, from the woods to the bottles filled with syrup made each spring. Everywhere we look there’s something he touched, built, dreamed. Whiskey Hollow just isn’t Whiskey Hollow without him. The endless days, frustrations, challenges, and tired bodies were all worth it because we did it together- side by side. It is a struggle to envision this business, this place without him. After far too many tears and sleepless nights, we have made a family decision to close our doors. It is heartbreaking in so many ways. We are working our way through our supply of glass bottles, but then we’ll be saying so long. Thank you for your endless support over the last 10 years. It has been an amazing journey and our hearts are full.
