Marjosse is the home property of Pierre Lurton, who oversees the 1st growths, Chateau Cheval Blanc and Chateau d’Yquem. The red is composed of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Malbec. After three weeks of macération the best vats are selected and transferred to French oak barrels (50% new) for 12 months. After decades of refinement in the vineyard management and the cellar, most critics have proclaimed this to be the finest vintage ever from Marjosse.
When we ordered this in April the lowest price on Wine-Searcher was $15.62 and the average $18.00. In the interim the dollar has gained strength against the euro so, we now combat the artificial formula price competition, where there is no stock but one competes with a new lower priced “possibility” for future delivery.
Those who base their purchases on this sort of info from their phones will miss out on a solid contender that offers formidable competition for any red of its sort under $20.00
