Some of my bad decisions are mine and mine alone and others are thrust upon me. For example, this morning as I'm driving to work minding my own affairs, patiently waiting for the light to change, I look to my left and notice a set of mittens in the left turn lane. My brain processes several facts all at once the most important of which are 1. It's almost June why would there be mittens in the road, and 2. Mittens don't look like kittens. Sure enough...the light turns, I throw Betsy in park, turn on her hazards and jump into the road. I gently scoop up the kitten and it wakes up, seemingly unharmed but definitely took a trip in the undercarriage of a truck with a leaking transmission. I get to my 'no pets allowed' place of employment and secure said kitten in a copy paper box under my desk with a dog blanket and a small dish of water knowing full well it's too young to understand how to fend for itself but I'm working with limited resources here. We make it through the day, get home, have a Dawn bath, warm air dry, and All Species milk replacer. I will leave out the details of how we ended up foregoing learning to drink on our own for another week or two and ended up sucking on a dropper. It's NOT staying. PS the last "it's not staying" is currently 8 years old and still awaiting his forever home - his name is Mater.
