Pugh Pastures Weekly Chaos Report
This week has been… a lot. I feel like I’ve been running approximately 47 minutes behind on every aspect of my life, so naturally the farm is matching my energy.
The chickens are DONE with this heat and are molting in preparation for winter. We also caught one of our hens being a little “pecker” and eating her own damn eggs, so egg production is going to be pretty limited this week.
Currently at the stand:
🍋🫐 Lemon blueberry pop tarts (in the cooler because it is 497° outside)
🍎 Apple fritter loaves — some packaging is looking a little silly because I ran out of lids for my tins. We’re calling it rustic.
🍪 Snickerdoodle cookies
🍅 A very small amount of tomatoes
Later today: 2 fresh sourdough loaves
Tomorrow: cinnamon rolls + bagels, just a little later than usual because life has chosen chaos this week.
And yes, I know when you look at my garden you’ll think, “Rachel, there are PLENTY of tomatoes.” There are. Unfortunately, many of them are rotting on the vine because they, like the rest of us, are absolutely over this heat and lack of rain.
We’re surviving. Barely. Come get some baked goods.
