It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my father this morning at the age of 99 years and 7 months. Born before the Great Depression, he served as a waist gunner on a B-17 in the European theater at just 18 years old. After the war, he graduated from VPI on the GI Bill and dedicated 40 years to the Fauquier County Clerk's office, running unopposed for four terms. He enjoyed a well-deserved 30+ year retirement, living life to the fullest. He always said he wanted to be remembered by the "3 F's"—Faith, Family, and Friends—and he truly lived by them.

Thank you, Dad, for all you've done and for the incredible example you set. Rest in peace. The length between now and eternity is one heart beat and we can’t wait to see you again.

So I went to the County Fair Saturday for the beef show. I did not know it but lo and behold they had an Alumni/ole fart showmanship contest. I was forced into it. In my heat, I was called back to further compete. The second time in I told the judge (who I know well)…”you got me in here twice, don’t bring me back a third time.” He obliged and I was free! It was fun!!
