Meet Brad Andrews β€” the reason boarding at Galusha isn't just boarding. 🐴

Brad's a professional trainer and rancher from North Dakota who travels the country working horses, and sits on the board of the Hooved Animal Humane Society. Every six weeks, he comes here. Not the other way around β€” most boarders load up and trailer out to get time with a horseman at this level. At Galusha, he pulls into the driveway.

Groundwork, buddy-sour horses, the spooky spot on the trail, the bridge yours won't cross β€” whatever the issue, big or small, Brad works it, and he does it gently. It's not all serious, either: last visit he brought his cutting machine and we all learned to work a cow.

That's what board buys you here β€” not just grass and turnout, but a barn that keeps making you and your horse better.

Openings now. Pasture board, $440/month, hay and bedding included, in Warrenville right off I-88 & Winfield Rd.

Turn the herd out on a summer morning and this is what you get. 🐴

They know exactly where they're going β€” everybody's got a favorite corner of the pasture. It's the fastest two minutes of the day, but honestly, the kind of memory that leaves a smile on your face.

That's pasture life at Galusha: real turnout, a real herd, room to just be a horse. Small barn in Warrenville, off I-88 & Winfield Rd, with five forest preserves out the back gate.

There's a reason the horses here always look a little spoiled. 🐴

They live the way horses actually want to β€” out on grass, in a real herd, with a dry lot, a big barn run-in, and a lean-to they can wander in and out of, 24/7/365. Rain, snow, or a perfect July evening, it's their call.

We have two openings for pasture board. The trails are the real draw: we sit between five forest preserves and the Great Western Trail, a two-minute ride from St. James Farm and its rentable indoor arena, with Herrick Lake and Danada just down the way. A lot of our folks ride with Trail Riders of DuPage.

Small barn. Neat, clean, no drama. Round pen and a rectangular arena for groundwork and schooling.

$440/month, our own good hay and bedding included. Warrenville, right off I-88 & Winfield Rd.

We keep it small on purpose β€” the spots go to the right horses, not just the first callers. Come walk the fields and see if it fits.

πŸ“ž (630) 777-6179 to set up a visit. Comment TRAILS and we'll DM you the details β€” and tag a friend whose horse has earned more turnout. πŸ‘‡

This is an ordinary Tuesday at Galusha. 🐴

A swim in the lake to cool off after a trail ride. Grazing with the herd. In and out of the run-in whenever the mood strikes. No stalls, no politics, no drama β€” just a horse getting to be a horse.

We have room for two on pasture board: $440/month, our own hay and bedding included, in Warrenville right off I-88 & Winfield Rd, with five forest preserves and the Great Western Trail out the back gate.

Worth a read if you've got an easy keeper.

More horse owners and stable managers are looking at straw as part of the forage ration β€” a way to stretch feeding time and take the edge off calories for the horse that gains weight on air, without leaving them standing at an empty net. The post below lays out the how and the how-much better than we could, so we'll let the expert talk.

We'll just add the part we know something about: it all comes down to clean straw. Bright, low-dust, no must. That's what we grow and sell β€” our chopped and dust free wheat straw, the kind you'd actually feel good about using as bedding.

Thinking about it? Introduce it slowly and check with your vet or nutritionist first. Then come see us for straw you can trust.

Holy moly, people. 😱

This is JR and Adrian, out in the field on a 92-degree day at baling time β€” not baling. Picking up garbage. Fast-food bags, bottles, wrappers, all of it chucked out car windows into a hay field.

Here's why they're out there sweating through it: every scrap has to come out before the baler runs. Because a wad of plastic or foil baled into hay ends up in a horse's gut, and that's a vet call nobody wants. So we walk the rows by hand and pull it all.

That's the part you don't see when a clean bale shows up at your barn. Thank you, JR and Adrian. πŸ‘

Who needs a gym membership? We've got hay bales to unload. πŸ€ πŸ˜‰

No planet fitness out here β€” just small squares, a hay elevator, and a whole lot of reps. This load went out to Passion For Polo in Barrington. Their horses eat well, we promise you that. 🐴

Delivery, stacking, the works β€” we don't just drop it at the curb. We get your hay where it needs to go.

Bet you didn't know we do this. 🀠

When a big anniversary party in Naperville needed straw bales for their decor, they called us. Our straw doesn't just bed horses β€” it lines walkways, sets the scene, and gives any outdoor event that warm, done-right look. This one went out next to a beautiful tented lawn, and it turned out great.

Also β€” that's Adrian unloading, our newest team member. Welcome to the crew, Adrian. πŸ‘

Weddings, fall festivals, corporate parties, photo backdrops β€” if your event needs straw bales, we'll deliver them across Chicagoland and set you up right.

This is what comfortable looks like. 😴

Meet Sainty β€” John Mikelenas's horse β€” sacked out flat on our chopped straw bedding and straw flakes. And here's the thing most folks don't realize: a horse only lies down flat like this when it feels safe and the footing's soft enough to actually rest on. You don't get this on thin, hard bedding.

Our chopped straw and straw flakes go down soft and fluffy, cushion better, and keep the stall drier underneath. Straw flakes work like a pellet β€” but better, in our book β€” and they break down clean.

Thanks for sharing Sainty with us, John. Looks like he approves. 🐴
