Forgot to post about our 5th swarm caught on 10 June. It was a small swarm but the interesting part was that it was a queenless swarm. But we just installed a queen from Bee Blessed Apriary in Warsaw.

Just caught our 4th swarm of the year. Happened to be driving by one of our traps and thought a bag or something got stuck on it from the storms yesterday. Turned out to be a pretty good sized swarm that was in the process of moving in!

If anyone happens to see a swarm, please IM us and we will come get it and rescue it and place it in our Apiary.

Got our second swarm of the season on Monday, April 22nd. Was walking by the woods and heard them starting to swarm and then tracked them to where they landed on a branch 12 feet up. Was able to rescue them and get them into a box.

They came from a natural hole in a tree what looks like 50 feet up!

Even found the queen!

Just caught our first swarm of the season here in Warsaw which seems super early. Was driving by and one of my neighbors had this massive swarm in his tree.

We checked our 5 hives and it didn’t come from our hives. Anyway, look to have started off with a good one!

If you happen to see a swarm like this one, please call or message us and we will come rescue it!

Just got done with the Honey Harvest 2023. Not as good as last year as this year’s goal was to expand the apiary from 3 hives to 6 hives. Which required a lot of new frame foundations to be built out with comb meaning less chance of getting honey.

Only ended up harvesting 17 medium super frames for a total honey harvest weight of 36 pounds.

Assuming the hives make it through winter, we will be setup for a big honey harvest year next year!

Our swarm trap caught a swarm back in early June to make swarm #4 of 2023.

Just got around to getting the trap and putting the colony into our Apiary. The swarm was a pretty big swarm and was ready to expand into a new box. Most of the frames had a lot of brood. Queen also was a big queen with a great laying pattern (she is in several of the pictures).

We are up to 7 hives which should be good for a while. Now we need all of these new colonies to start producing honey.

It may be a year without a lot of honey as they build up new frames.

Was able to get swarm #3 of 2023 at the farm of Jeff and Peggy Fisher. It was a small swarm but the queen had already laid a lot of brood so it should grow quite quickly! Also found the queen by herself when transferring the bees from the swarm trap to their NUC box!

This now makes 6 hives in our apiary.

It’s the beginning of Honeybee swarm season and we are looking for your help in saving them!

Below are a couple of pictures of what swarms may look like if your unfamiliar with what a honeybee swarm happens to be. They can attach to anything temporarily while they figure out where to go.

We will rescue these bees if you happen to see them. Please give us a call or shoot us a message if you happen to locate one.

Appreciate any tips on swarms and we will be glad to rescue them and add to our apiary!
