Picked some huge, glossy blackberries and golden raspberries today. Sadly the raspberries weren't as plentiful as I hoped though… all the rain lately here in Tennessee had turned most of them soft and rotted. We needed the rain after such a dry spring though.

The gallon I picked today had to go straight to the freezer because they weren't dry enough to store. On the bright side, the golden raspberries will produce again in the Fall so I'll have another chance this year.

It’s always a balancing act out here on the farm.

These goodies are awaiting pickup for a wonderful cause! When I was contacted and asked if I'd be willing to donate to the Eugene Groce Memorial Scholarship Bake Sale, I was super happy to be part of it!

What did I make? Well, Spring is here, so 🍓 Strawberry Lime Crumble Bars were a definite – made with fresh strawberries, bright lime zest and juice, layered over a buttery shortbread oat cookie base and finished with a golden crumble.

I figured why stop there? Next is White Vanilla Cupcakes with 🍮 Caramel Buttercream – big, fluffy cupcakes topped with rich, silky caramel buttercream that melts in your mouth.

These generously sized treats will be available tomorrow, Saturday, March 28 at Woodard’s Market & Deli in Lynchburg, TN. Yup, you know it - the place with the AMAZING deli sandwiches just a few minutes from good ole' Jack Daniels distillery.

All proceeds will be given in monetary scholarships to Senior student(s) of the MCHS Class of 2026.

So if you’re local, stop by Woodard’s, grab something delicious, and support a meaningful cause.

It's a gorgeous 73 degree day and I'm ready for the flavors of Spring! So this morning I made these big, fat strawberry shortcake cookies! They're loaded with dried strawberries, Belgian salted white chocolate paillettes, and pieces of vanilla sandwich cookies. I'm happy with how they turned out, they're pretty damn tasty!

About a year ago I brought home two piglets. Maybe you remember that post....

It’s hard to explain the feeling of raising your own food from start to finish. It’s a lot of work. It’s responsibility. It’s care and respect.

When the time came, they were humanely processed at an Amish facility who smoked the bacon beautifully and made the most flavorful breakfast sausage.

Today I cooked up some of that bacon for the first time.
I can honestly say its absolutely the most delicious bacon I've ever tasted!

Farm life isn’t easy — but mornings like this make it worth it.

And it’s deeply satisfying. 🐖 🥓

It's not the best picture, but here's my Valentine's Day effort. Just not feeling the holiday this year, but I had to bake something. Heart-shaped chocolate raspberry cheesecake. The raspberries are atop a layer of chocolate ganache and covered in raspberry glaze. I thought a ruffle of whipped cream would be a cute way to trim it out.

Maybe it deserves a nicer cake plate, different camera angle and better lighting, but this will just have to do. Get me a fork already!
