Mrs. Gus's Doughboys Oakland Beach Warwick Rhode Island Creator of the Oakland Beach Doughboy 1940,, and the word Doughboy 25 years before Pillsbury named it Gus" when she was a little girl.

In a tiny hillside village in Neapolis Lakonia Greece in 1907 my grandmother Eleni made doughboys for my aunt Frieda "Mrs. In 1940 she commercialized it and till we closed in 1985 we sold aprox 20 million doughboys many times 650 dozen a day.The recipe is still a secret today.

This story takes place in Oakland Beach 1936 -1985. The true story of two best buddies growing up. Chief Bonn was retired during the fire, it may have been Chief Joyce at the fire. All the rest is true of their friendship and life there. I was there for most of it. Enjoy!
