Chocolate Wheat Cake π
* 1 Β½ cups wheat flour
* ΒΌ cup cocoa powder
* 1 teaspoon Baking soda
* Β½ teaspoon Salt
* 1 cup sugar (organic, or 1.5 cups grated jaggery) I added jaggery
* 1 cup Milk
* 1/3 cup oil (coconut or light olive oil)
* 1 tablespoon Lemon juice (or apple cider vinegar or plain vinegar)
* 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
* Preheat the oven to 340 F or 170 C for at least 15 mins. οΏ½
* Grease a 8 inch round cake pan & line with a parchment paper. Set aside.
* Mix 1 Β½ cups flour, ΒΌ cup cocoa powder, Β½ tsp salt and 1 tsp baking soda. οΏ½
* Sieve the flour mix at least four times to aerate the flour. This makes the cake light. οΏ½
* Add 1 cup jaggery and mix it well. If you are using coarse one then you can also dissolve it in 1 cup water and pour it in the next step.
* Make a well (space) in the center. Pour 1 cup milk, 1/3 cup oil, 1 tbsp vanilla extract and 1 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar.οΏ½
* Gently begin to mix well from the liquid ingredients in the center. οΏ½
* Mix just until the flour is combined well with the wet ingredients. Do not over mix.οΏ½
* The batter will be runny. Pour it to the cake pan. οΏ½
* Knock it a few times against the kitchen counter to release air bubbles.οΏ½
* Bake for 30 mins. Check after 25 mins. To check if it is completely baked, insert a skewer in the center of the cake and check. It must come out clean.
* Keep the cake pan on a wire rack and allow it to cool down for 8 to 10 mins in the pan.οΏ½
* Invert eggless wheat chocolate cake gently on a wire rack. Allow it to cool completely.
