Keep watching I think we may have a coup taking place in the Hierarchy. Odell has been in Lucy’s spot for a couple of weeks. Lucy has never allowed it. Today when we put out hay in creek, close to the spring so they could have something and not have to travel far. The waters parted when Lucy came up, except for Odell. She was first to the bale and stayed, did not move. Everyone else walked when Queen Lucy arrived. I would have never picked Odell to be Queen but it’s getting interesting. Lucy is getting old, still manages things, but has slowed a lot. Hasn’t calved in several years. Anyone else experienced a new takeover for the top spot?

This little Spring saves the girls every year when the creek dries up. It’s not fun, but they are surviving. Sedona lays right in the middle of it. And no one tells her she can’t LOLOL Praying for some rain!!

This wonderful heat wave has me dreaming of fall. Which means babies!! If you know me it’s when I am totally nuts with anticipation and excitement for those babies. This is a throwback from last year’s first calf Reba’s Sassy. This is her first day in the world and she took full advantage of exploring. Mama was not quite sure what she had got herself in too. Happy August !! I’m looking forward to November;)

Today was glorious!! Temps down and the humidity. The cows were so comfortable resting, enjoying the day!! I love these days.

This is how we are summering in the heat!! Swim, Swish those tails and Shade. Our babies are simmering for a late mid fall arrival!! If all goes as planned should have babies this year starting mid November. Our old matriarch doesn’t calve anymore and we have a couple of new mama’s this year that is always interesting. Hopefully it’s a heifer crop. But will take healthy babies any time!! We have great Mama’s so I don’t worry so much about that anymore.

Well the last heifer left today from fall calving. Now we simmer till fall, and wait for those new babies. I really appreciate all of our new friends and their purchases. Believe my gratitude and thanks are so much appreciated. We have formed some good friendships. This little girl was my favorite. She was really special and I love her confirmation. The Ford’s really liked her when they picked up their calf a few weeks ago. I kinda had a feeling that she would be headed to Texas. So this week they returned and she went home today. All things work for good!! And she is reunited with her best friend who left her a few weeks ago.

Water gaps today!! Was I dreaming yesterday when they were all up and pretty;)….Life on the creek!!

What do you do after being weaned for a month?? You head straight to the creek and go swimming with Aunt Nessie!! She was so glad to see them!!
