If you’ve wondered what makes The Collective special, part of the answer is the wood. The Collective is finished with toasted maple offcuts from Gibson’s guitar-making process. Introduced after blending, the maple helps soften the palate and bring a brighter sweetness to the whiskey. The result is a damn good pour with a story you don’t come across everyday.

There’s a piece of Gibson in this whiskey, and that still feels pretty wild to say. The Collective was finished with toasted maple offcuts from Gibson’s guitar-making process, bringing a softer palate, brighter sweetness and a little more openness to the blend. We’re proud of where it landed.

This collaboration started with a guitar and a question: What happens when wood shapes more than sound? Wood can shape the sound of a guitar. It turns out it can shape whiskey, too.

That idea brought Eric Church, Whiskey JYPSI and Gibson together to create Tonewood, a limited-edition whiskey collaboration finished with toasted maple offcuts from actual Gibson guitar construction.

Tonewood: Vol. 1 is 109-proof, combining 20-year-old straight bourbon with 14-year-old whiskey from a bourbon mash bill, then finished with toasted Gibson maple. Only 250 are available, each presented in a custom Gibson case inspired by their classic hardshell guitar cases, with a co-branded Gibson guitar strap and two Whiskey JYPSI glasses.

Tonewood: The Collective is 103-proof, blending 14-year-old whiskey from a bourbon mash bill with 8-year-old straight bourbon, also finished with toasted Gibson maple and presented in an Eric Church Hummingbird inspired decorative tube.

A collaboration built on craft, curiosity and the belief that the best ideas usually come from doing things a little differently.
